This pretty much sums it up for me.

This guy could stink out the superdome like some Haz teams.

I could be wrong, but I think sweet potatos also have more vitamins and minerals than yams.

Btw, this thread is useless without the Ruby Tuesday sign!

"Yes. We are all tiny, tiny men. You could probably beat the entire board up. Here's to you, tough guy!"

Purleeese Mr Loose Cannon, i was merely using a damp dark mental picture to describe how the angst ridden among us may look in these "Exciting times" hence my reference to under 60 pounds & looking like twigs etc. I dont do chest thumping on message boards. Thats for gob****es.

This pretty much sums it up for me.

Speaking of yams, without cheating and looking it up, anyone know the difference between a sweet potato and a yam, if any?

PS. Despite the ridicule, Dan Quayle probably has more practical daily influence on my life than any other vice president. I still remember to leave the "e" off potato, a mistake I would be easily tempted to make.

my g/f was the yambille queen so she fowarded me this explanation

Sweet Potatoes
Popular in the American South, these yellow or orange tubers are elongated with ends that taper to a point and are of two dominant types. The paler-skinned sweet potato has a thin, light yellow skin with pale yellow flesh which is not sweet and has a dry, crumbly texture similar to a white baking potato. The darker-skinned variety (which is most often called "yam" in error) has a thicker, dark orange to reddish skin with a vivid orange, sweet flesh and a moist texture.

Yams
The true yam is the tuber of a tropical vine (Dioscorea batatas) and is not even distantly related to the sweet potato.
Slowly becoming more common in US markets, the yam is a popular vegetable in Latin American and Caribbean markets, with over 150 varieties available worldwide.

Generally sweeter than than the sweet potato, this tuber can grow over seven feet in length.

Excellent. Bottom line, in the US, it is probably a sweet potato you are eating.

Yes. We are all tiny, tiny men. You could probably beat the entire board up. Here's to you, tough guy!

Speak for yourself. I am a freakin beast, even Ojo-like. :hihi:

Would a 7 foot Yam be OJO-Like?

I've been saying this for months.

Thank you Loose Cannon!!!! There was me thinking im going to get into a cultural humour mess again like i did on the San Diego message board a while back (dont ask). When alls said & done & anxiety aside i optimistically predict playoffs. Now enough of this thread!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't help but notice this thread was started by Simmons Twin... It must be hard to live in the shadow of your twin, especially when he's...

This is not good news for the Opelousas Office of Tourism and their annual "Yambilee Festival." I guess "Sweet Potatobilee Festival" doesn't roll off the tongue as easily.

>>Why would you bump this thread?

Why not (but you already knew since you quoted about 25 of the elements from it)? Since we don't have the trash bin anymore, maybe if everyone confined most of their board-inspired comedy to one thread that "has it all" [tm], I was hoping no one would get warned or booted. And since "BTTT" is classic (and since the thread was still on page 1), it was conspicuous by its absence.

With the Ruby Tuesday sign in place and the "problem not fixed" addition, the only thing I can still see missing are a couple of ra haikus and some free verse poetry from 2884.

This is hall of fame indigenous SR.com stuff we're talking about. I think I'm going to up my vote from 4 to 5 *'s.
