Finally did it. Took me a while to convince my wife who might go through Hallmark channel withdrawals but she will be fine.

Called Cox this morning because my contract ended and new bill was going to be $213.00/month. We could not agree on a price so I did the deed and cancelled the TV and bumped up Internet speed to their premier plan.

My son lives next door so no worries about missing football games.

Off to the other thread on cutting the cord.

If you end up really missing your basic cable channels, I recommend Sling TV. Or use your son's Cox account no. for the various streaming apps all the channels have nowadays.

But you'll see plenty of that on the cord-cutting thread. :mwink:

I could be wrong, but haven't you argued against Net Neutrality?

So I guess you could say that you Cox Blocked them?

Welcome to the family. :9:

Kept Cox for internet and went to Sling TV for $20.00 and I'm so much happier. Got really the only channels I only really care about TNT,TBS,Food,HGTV.El Rey, CNN,ESPN channels. Use bunny ears for CBS,FOX,NBC etc.

If I had another way to watch the Saints I'd tell DirecTv to take a hike. I'm hoping the NFL soon provides another way to catch all of the games, though I think the current deal with DTV goes through 2022. :(

Do you have a DVR that you can hook to sling (and can you pause, rewind, FF, etc.)? I watch very little in real time. From what I have read, Sling sounds like it has possibilities. Many of the other cord cutting ideas I have read/tried have turned into a big hassle and not reliable.

You can put DTV on hold for up to 6 months (I think) which should cover the off season.

Not sure why you bring that up.

Because opposition to Net Neutraity is all about prioritizing traffic for and against the various other options for programming services mentioned in the Cutting the Cord thread that will put you in the exact same boat that you are in with the cable company.

The boat I was in with cable is that there is only one channel being watched and that was the Hallmark channel. The price to watch that one channel was too high.

The tv package I was paying for was always available, never throttled and was not prejudice to any particular channel. I received what I paid for.
