That's two years in a row we have a nfc south team in the superbowl (1 Viewer)

I'm holding out hope that they won't but it is not looking good

Look at it this way --- the Super Bowl loser always has a subpar season the following year. When the Dirty Birds lose to the AFC champ, they are destined to have a poor 2017 season.

Here's a synopsis of how Super Bowl losing teams have fared the next season (now we can include the 2016 Panthers to the trash heap):
NFL: Are Super Bowl Losers Really

Oh its a lock. Neither team from the AFC can play the type of defense it takes to keep Atlanta under 30. Atlanta's hot right now. Not mad at em either.

I think New England advances and wins by 17 in the Super Bowl. Hopefully a Panthers like slide happens after that. But I do think the Falcons are more talented than Carolina, so that part is doubtful.

Well, time to understand Carolina and Atlanta have passed us. We are down from our ivory tower of Super Bowl 44.

The first step is to build the most competitive coaching staff possible, but it seems that we can wait. Nonsense!

The only way those two bums pass us is if they have the silver trophy. Until then, they're still trying to catch up to what we already achieved.

Patriots are our last hope because of the way they can come up with great gameplans to take away opponents top players. But that Pittsburgh defense has speed too.

I'm not impressed with either one of these teams in the AFC. Atlanta is just too fast & talented on both sides of the ball. I can see Atlanta winning the Super Bo.... Nope. Can't say it.......

Atlanta is having a great season. While I don't want to see them win the prize, I can't fault them. They deserve it with their game play. Having a Saints 2009 kind of a season. I like that the NFC south is looking strong and not a weak division.

The problem is Quinn. That defense held GB to ZERO points for most of the game. That's what wins, year after year. If Quinn is building a Seattle type defense (Seattle, when he was the DC), then we are in a world of trouble, because a team like that can rule for 5 years, easily, and will win more than 1 SB...even in the period of FA.

Stepping up our game is merely getting real smart people in here for defense. Ryan had all game to do whatever he wanted...bc he had a force helping him on the other side of the ball. God help us, knowing this, we kept Payton...

That's the problem. Neither AFC team has a great defense. Good, not great. Atlanta's offense has scored more than 30 points in 10 of their last 12, one of those not over 30 was 29, and 4 of them were over 40.

The Patriots have a good offense, but I don't think they can keep up in a horse race. Their saving grace is Belichick and their playoff experience, but I'm not sure that's enough.

Just means next year it's our turn. Or TB's I guess. I don't think we're far off. With a little luck in the health department I think we definitely could win the south
