Jazzfest lineup out... (1 Viewer)

Ehhh, nothing to get excited about. Other than the timelessness of Stevie Wonder, what's the big deal?
-- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers-- when were they last relevant--1983?
-- Meghan Trainor and Lorde, and to some degree Pitbull, I guess is something for the teenybopper set.
-- Lots of that stinky hipster music from 10-20 years ago (Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio from Phish).
-- Earth, Wind and Fire isn't really Earth, Wind and Fire anymore; they are like these casino-playing bands with one or two originals.
-- Harry Connick, Jr. - have had about enough of him with that new talk show.
-- and the rest of the usual suspects.

Line-up is kind of a letdown this year.

That is a pretty loaded lineup!!

No really huge megastars but a lot of great bands and singers of all different genres.

Might have to go for a few days this year!!

I can see your perspective - though I think Tom Petty is always outstanding and I'm okay with jam band music. Wilco, Dawes, and Alabama Shakes are quality acts. Kings of Leon don't sound like they used to but I'm sure they'll be solid. I usually like to see an up and coming national rock (AAA/roots) act like Arcade Fire in 2010 or Nathaniel Rateliff last year - but apart from maybe Elle King, the I don't really see that.

I'm going to be there Saturday the 29th
I only really know Maroon 5 and Usher & The Roots - Is there a must hear artist or band that day?

First Rebirth, Alabama Shakes, then if time Lost Bayou Ramblers, Honey Island Swamp Band, Jonny Lang, Jon Cleary...

If you dig Zydeco then Steve Riley, Terrance Simien, Sunpie...

Music is very subjective--one man's trash is another's treasure, and what thrills one person may make someone else's skin crawl. That being said, I have to be honest--for the first time in a long time, there's nothing there that excites me.
