Brees considering a career in politics after football? (1 Viewer)

WATCH: Brees Says He's Not Ruling Out a Post-NFL Political Career | Fox News Insider

Senator Brees?

I know his Mom was a politician. I think he would win easily, whatevever he decided to run for.

Hey NolaBoy - You may not have been around the last few years or read the threads. Here's reality:

- Both Brees parents were lawyers and both, especially dad, actively involved in politics
- In Austin, at political and lobbyiest events, it is talked about that Brees is likely planning a career in politics with eyes of the Presidency
- If he runs in Texas for US Senate, he could lose
- If he runs for US Senate in Louisiana, he wins without much of a campaign
- Once in Senate and gets a little experience, he is perfect to run for President: clean, high integrity, really smart, a natural people leader and on and on.

He may not go into politics, but the Powers to Be in Austin Politics know for sure he has had some conversations, if not a bunch, about politics.

Thanks for the info.
I didn't realize his Dad was a lawyer.
I now it's all just talk, but I agree with you.
If he ran in Louisiana, he would win, hands down.
As far as Texas, I wouldn't know.
He seems conservative, so you never know. Texas is pretty conservative.

I thought he said on the Ellen show that after football it's full on dad mode for him so I guess a run for any office wouldn't be for a while then?

You're Welcome and my pleasure. This is like one of the few things I really dislike in Texas, but the portrayal of Sheldon's mom in the Big Bang Theory is very accurate for the mass number of Bible Belt Thumpers in many parts of Texas. To win in Texas, Brees would likely have to embrace Evangelical Christianity.

Whatever. I hate politics right now. Apologies! Go Saints!

EDIT: It just hit me. If Brees became President, you don't think he would give Goodell hell for sport :worthy:

A friend of mine is a lawyer in Washington DC. His firm was peripherally involved in the American Needle VS. the NFL court case a few years back. During one of the dozens of meetings/depositions, he sat in one with Brees, concerning the NFLPA's amicus brief. Said he was one of the sharper guys in the room, and was really impressed by his ability to follow the legalese that dominated the discussion.

Here is an OP/ED Drew wrote around that time that I forgot about until this thread popped up.

Ha, and he won a Super Bowl shortly after writing that article.

PLEASE NO

i just think it would frustrate the **** out of him
LOL. I have to agree with you there.
Would he really want the scrutiny of being a public official?
Besides that, he could make more money being a t.v. analyst.
And it would be less of a headache.

I remember a few years back, his Mom was trying to use his name in her
campaign. He put an end to that real quick.

If he could lessen the huge divide in this country and get some cooperation across the aisle, I'm all for it.
