Our offense was solid this year, but we were not as explosive and scary as we had been in the past. We are 4 players away, and here's what we need (in no particular order):

Reggie/Sproles-type running back to cause mismatches against LBs

James White in this super bowl once again reminded us how a scat-back can cause problems for defenses. our offense was at its peak when Reggie Bush and Sproles were screaming past LBs and causing problems for defenses. We need one of those guys. Payton tried to use Cadet in that role, and it just never materialized the way he wanted.

Speedy WR to run the clear-out routes

When Meach and Devery were running those deep routes it opened up so much in the passing game. Brandin Cooks is fast but I'd rather not waste him on clear-out routes. Find one REALLY fast guy to run those routes and let Cooks, Snead and Mike T do work.

We need Fleener to step up, or find a TE that will

I haven't given up on Fleener I think he can be special in this offense because he has the ability, but we need a solid receiving threat at the TE spot. Graham and Watson showed how a TE can be dominant in this offense... we need Fleener to become THAT guy.

Solidify the Oline

I think we are a solig RG away from solidifying the line, but we also may need to find Streif's replacement, so we may be 2 OGs away. Maybe we have him on the roster already (Landon turner) but I'm ready to move on from the other guys.

Time to get ready to make this run, and if we get those positions filled we'll be alright. WHO DAT!

All we need is a special Guard and a Tyreek Hill clone.

Our defense is still making our offense look a little weak. A few turnovers on defense would make a huge difference.

I agree with this more than the OP.

Yes, we desperately need a 3rd down/scat/joker/receiving back who can pass protect. This position is simply too valuable in today's NFL. Much like the SS/LB tweener, the TE/WR tweener, and the slot CB, this is a position that now is part of your "starting" 11. You must have one. Lasco looks to have the tools to be Ingram's backup, but there isn't a guy to run wheel routes, option routes, flare routes and make the first guy miss. We seriously need that.

Oline help? Absolutely. Armstead is often injured, Peat is playing out of position, Unger and Strief are aged. The Patriots gave up some pressure last night, but they threw it and threw it and threw it. And for the most part, they held up. And by that time, the ATL pass rush was "slap wore out." The Saints need to be able to pass protect like that.

TE? Not really needed, and here' why. MT is the #1 guy now. Cooks is a very, very special "1B." Snead will be the 3rd option no matter what. The new joker RB will have the 4th most targets. So now you have Ingram, Fleener, and Coleman battling for the 5th/6th/7th most looks. Upgrading guys in those spots of your offensive hierarchy just isn't that important. I hope Fleener makes a nice 2nd year leap. But in reality, I just want Hooman, Hill, and Fleener to be healthy through the majority of the year.

Clear out WR? No thank you. The Pats don't have one. Thomas, Cooks, and Fleener can all run deep routes. Fleener and Cooks can use their speed against their main coverage opponents (LB/S for Coby, CB's for Cooks) and beat them. Thomas can use his route running and high point/body control to beat his guys at the top of his routes or at the catch. I see no reason to "waste" a spot on a guy with one job when you already have 3 guys who can do that job well.

This offense is scary. #2 in the league in yardage, #1 in 3rd down conversion (and it wasn't really even close, right?) Give them a few more short fields via turnovers or really nice defensive stands and they will put up as many points as the 'clowns or whomever.

We need another sproles or bush type out then back field

I agree with Duckjr that receiving te is not a huge need but I do think that blocking Te is. One of the big reasons that the pats can protect brady is because Martellus Bennett is basically a third tackle and possibly the best in-line blocking te in the game.

Oj howard, adam shaheen and James Towbridge are some of the best in the draft.

I do think that another deep threat is needed. Mack hollins in the draft is my favorite to fill that role.

Im over the satellite back craze. I would rather pounding inside runners like Fournette, James conner or Donnell Pumphrey.

The problem with the deep threat is who will he replace? Maybe he can come in on certain packages, but he'll either replace(temporarily) Thomas or Snead. I think they'll keep Coleman for at least another year.

I am IN LOVE with Alvin Kamara out of Tennessee. I think he could be a monster in our offense.

This is my main problem with the "deep threat" WR. No way, no how, am I taking Thomas, Cooks, or Snead off the field to replace with someone else. Those three are way too good at what they each do to try to replace them with someone who is probably a one trick pony. So now you have a guy who is only going to be out there for MAYBE 10 plays a game where you go 5 wide.

It's just not my idea of a good place to spend resources. Kamara would be an ideal value vs. resource add in the 3rd round, IMHO, if he's still around. If not, there are quite a few other guys who look very good in that roll and that part of the draft.

The Saints need a pass rusher, a joker RB, a LB, and a backup RT out of this draft. Luckily, these are basically the only positions that this draft is deep in, lol! All the other positions are mediocre at best.

The keystone to getting Brees another Super Bowl ring is this year's free agency period. Simple as that.

I'm a bit worried about the o-line. They did an amazing job last year when no one expected it. I know 2017 is do or die, but if we expect to compete for a championship the next couple of years, we're gonna need some help. Armstead, Unger and Peat are solid, just not sure if Strief can dish it out 2-3 more years or even this next season. I know some still question Peat's ability but I think he's good for what we need. And of course, another guard.

We saw what guys like James White and Taylor Gabriel brought to their offenses. We just need another solid weapon. Whether Fleener becomes a real threat, or we get another receiver/back, it comes down to the amount of options. I say go for the BPA in terms of open field and making a guy miss in the 2nd or later. Cadet can't break tackles and we need a good YAC player.

Freeman and Coleman definitely give the Falcons offense a dynamic that the Saints don't currently possess. Too bad the Spiller experiment was a miserable failure. Ingram has serviceable speed but he's not explosive or particularly shifty.

I don't mean to be a contrarian here but our offense is already scary. We were toe to toe almost as good as ATL in offense for most of the season.

People, we have a top notch offense. Offense is NOT THE PROBLEM.

We need a defense that gets stops and turnovers consistently. We also need a special teams unit that can run the ball out passed our own 15 and stop opponents from getting to their 25.

We've seen it before with both meachem and Henderson. It can be done again. Thomas and Snead can play the role of Colston and Moore while Cooks and a player like Hollins can sub in and out as deep threats and run blockers.

Meachem might only get you 40 catches but that was likely for 700 yards and 7-9 tds. Plus Payton loved his blocking skills.

The saints were also only 16th in rushing. In 2009 they were 6th.

They stalled big time in some games like DeTRoit, NYG, KC, Tampa, Car, and early in games vs teams like ATL.

They can definitely improve.
