The Saints always seem to trade with New England. There are three Patriots that I would like to see in Black and Gold. Bring some of the Championship culture into our locker room. Probably never happen, but

LB Dont'a Hightower
CB Logan Ryan
DE Jabaal Sheard

If I were to pick 3:

LB Hightower
CB Bouye/Johnson
G Zeitler/Warford

Then get our RE with the 11th pick.

I think Hightower would be the ultimate FA signing. Think about it, the Patriots chose to keep him over Jamie Collins and Chandler Jones. That alone tells me how much they value him. Hightower is as good as it gets at what he does. And the guy does everything. He can stop the run and rush the passer with the best of them. I hope we at least offer him a big contract. If he chooses to go elsewhere, then at least we tried.

I would rather sign Zach Brown. Hightower has only played 1 full season in his career. We don't need another Ellerbe.

The way you put it can be a little misleading, although it is true. Here's a little context.

It’s worth acknowledging that Hightower borders on being injury prone. He has missed 13 regular-season games in five seasons and has played a full 16-game season only once, in 2013. But it’s also worth mentioning Hightower has never missed a playoff game. He suffers his nicks and bruises, but it’s never enough to place him on injured reserve or keep him out of the most important games of the season. In fact, Hightower made both of his iconic Super Bowl plays while wearing a holster on his shoulder.

13 missed games in 5 years isn't that horrible. Never been on IR and never missed a playoff game. Some of his injuries were fluky. Like one was a rib injury. Not like that has long term effects. I think most of the games he's missed, he could have played if it were a playoff game. He was banged up and they wanted to let him heal.

I just wouldn't want to end up in another situation where we blowing our cap money for nothing. Brown will be way cheaper, and he's better in coverage. Hightower to me seems like Curtis Lofton, with slightly better coverage skills. Not worth 10+ million a year, when we can sign a guy for 4-6 that will give us a little less in the run department, but more in the pass department.

Brown has proven to be very reliable over his career (missed one season with a major injury, but played all 16 games every other season), and he has just as many sacks, more tackles, more interceptions, in less games played than Hightower.

Hightower is the best pass rushing LB in the league. Nothing like Lofton. I honestly think he would still be a pro bowler as a full time DE. I think he's a better player than Melvin Ingram who will get 15+ million a year.

Huh? Better pass rusher than Chandler Jones, Von Miller,Khalil Mack(plays some lb), Clay Mathews ( even plays some MLB), James Harrison etc? No way.

Excuse me, best pass rushing ILB in the league. I consider 3-4 OLBs more like DEs than LBs.

Hightower, at 6-foot-3, 265 pounds, is as stout as they come as a run defender at middle linebacker. He also might be the NFL’s most effective pass-rushing linebacker on a per-snap basis. Despite his size, he’s adept in pass coverage because of his sure-tackling.

And I even forgot about Anthony Barr and Jamie Collins.

This is from 2014, but 30% is ridiculous. Nobody else in the league gets pressure on 30% of their pass rush snaps.

This one is from November 4, 2016. So yeah, he's definitely one of the best and not even in the same stratosphere as Curtis Lofton.
