i found this because i was curious about shows located in NYC (i'll post that one next - not as detailed as i was looking for but a start)

Two things i noticed right off the bat:

1). Baywatch, while unintentionally funny-- was not a sitcom (Neither was Freaks & Geeks, which incidentally only lasted one season.)

2). Why no mention of Frank's Place? Though it was short-lived (only a season or a season and a half)-- it was one of the best sitcoms ever produced... And it was set in New Orleans... Not only was it set in New Orleans, but you could say that New Orleans was a 'character' of it's own in the show... Kind of a glaring omission IMO.

yeah, i noticed the Frank's Place thing too - that whole wave of dramedy's like Molly Dodd and Buffalo Bill (and the John Ritter one i can't remember) don't seem to be on there either
eta "Hooperman was the John Ritter vehicle. also conflated 'buffalo bill' with "slap maxwell" both to Dabney Coleman's

the glaring omission for me was The Bob Newhart Show (Chicago)??
also Soap even though they listed it's spinoff Benson:idunno:

I'd put Gilligan's Island in there for Hawaii too. They left from Hawaii, and can still pick up radio transmissions on their "uncharted dessert isle."

I could argue that Wisconsin is the third most successful state for sitcoms. Never really saw that coming.

yea, and I think they left off Perfect Strangers. At least I think it was set in Wisconsin.

Yeah, some weird voices on there for 'sitcoms'.
Grey's Anatomy? Wonder Years? Gunsmoke? Murder She Wrote? Twin freakin' Peaks?

Not to mention 'Sanford and Sun'.

Map is seriously flawed. None of the following were sitcoms:

Twin Peaks, Bonanza, Grey's Anatomy, Dallas, Roswell, Big Love, Gunsmoke, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Magnum P.I., Lou Grant, 7th Heaven, Baywatch. None of them were even close.

2. The Wonder Years, like several others is actually a comedy-drama, or drama-comedy, not a sitcom. And it being listed as "taking place" in Los Angeles is a rip-off. The series was never mentioned expressly as being anywhere, and ABC insisted it was "Anytown, USA". But Fred Savage Jr.'s Jets jacket and the intent of the writers was for it to be in suburban New York City (Long Island). A later season episode showed a driver's license/registration being sent to a 90230 zip code, which is in California. I still say no kid in LA is wearing a Jets mock-leather jacket from the Sears catalogue back in those days.

3. And, as mentioned earlier, the omission of Frank's Place (being that there are other dram comedies listed) is wrong.

They left off Martin, which was a rather successful sitcom. At least early anyway. That took place in Detroit.

Just dropping this here. I never realized GoT or True Blood were Sci-Fi.

Who the heck in Louisiana is watching True Blood??? didn't that show end like 3-4 years ago??

I know, or think at least, that it was filmed in Louisiana, but they have some of the worst "Louisiana" accents I have ever heard. Granted I only have seen bits and pieces of the show, but every thing I saw of it was pretty terrible.
That is embarrassing.

Props to Kansas for watching Parks and Rec. That is one of the best and most underrated shows ever. We need to stream more of that instead of freakin True Blood!??? :angryrazz:
