Here's the story:

In tests by the Michigan Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, the Charger displayed much greater horsepower and acceleration than either the Crown Victoria or Impala. The Charger was rated at 340 horsepower with 390 pound feet of torque. The Crown Victoria and Impala were rated at 250 horsepower and 297 and 240 horsepower and 245 pound feet of torque, respectively. The Charger is a full three second faster than both models in acceleration from a standing start to 70 miles per hour.

That's a pretty slick 5-0 ride. My grandmother lives in Bastrop, I just hope the fumes from that paper mill won't make the engine explode.

I've seen a few towns in La with Chargers as police cars. The first one I saw was Dodson. I mean, there are a lot of places I might expect to see a Dodge Charger as a cop car, but Dodson??

That's enough to make me want to get into law enforcement and move to Bastrop.

I saw Dodson's new cop car last week. It's a "Keeping Up With Dry Prong" speed trap thingy.

Speaking of speed traps, I noticed the Town of Ball has removed all rooftop lights from its cop cars and replaced them with blue flashing lights on the interior corners of the windshield and the front of the sideview mirrors. No cop silhouette.

Yeah, I made my opinion of Ball known a few days ago in the Radar Detector thread.

It currently holds my title for worst speed trap on 165 between Monroe and Alexandria. And that's saying something.

I saw one of those in Los Angeles a while back.

It's worse than Georgetown??? :eek2:

My granddaddy was from Sikes...so I've been through Dodson a few times, too. What are they chasing out there anyway? :p

Money. Small towns on 167 and 165 took a page from Ball and Dry Prong on raising municipal funds.

The speed traps got to be so bad and so many people complained that Dry Prong made the front page of the Alexandria Town Talk. They were even stopping people at the Grant High School speed zone, two miles south of their town limits.

After reading the entire article, apparantly a V6 Impala has more horsepower and torque than a V8 Crown Victoria. That's pretty sad.

What's the problem with Fords? When we bought our minivan in 2002, we also looked at SUV's. I remember our Odyssey was rated for more HP than a V8 Expedition.

Pathetic.

It looks cool from the outside. I bet if you hooked up some nitrous oxide to that bad mamah jamah it would go fast, real fast. Either way it would be fun to have one of these cars to pull people over to give them pretend tickets.
