Brees putting together season for the ages... (1 Viewer)

This should be reiterated:

NFL players love to complain that they've been "disrespected," but Brees doesn't waste time criticizing the Dolphins or Chargers. In fact, few players are as mild-mannered off the field as Brees, even though few players have as many reasons to say they've been disrespected. In 2001, after a great career at Purdue, Brees was bypassed in the NFL draft until the 32nd pick, when the Chargers took him — 31 slots after the Atlanta Falcons selected Michael Vick first overall. No one who watched Brees and the Saints beat Vick and the Falcons on Sunday would dispute that Brees is a better quarterback than Vick, but he doesn't boast about that publicly.

No need to flip off our fans :)

And the beauty part is he's not even 28 yet. Hard to imagine that this time last year we were preparing to bench our qb, Haslett was coach, Deuce was on IR, the team seemed destined to move, and we had won our 3rd and final game of the season.

Now we have several very good rookies, a great young qb, and what appears to be a great young head coach -- all on the verge of a playoff berth. The sky is the limit for this group over the next 5-6 years, and hopefully beyond.

Great post Razor. Whenever someone posts a "what happened to..." thread, I always want to throw your name out there since you were solid from the day I got to this site. But then you pop in from time to time with quality material.

FWIW, I agree and very much appreciate the 1st paragraph.

Razor
