Which is the better option? They seem to compare favorably as far as price ($15/month). It would seem like Tivo is the obvious choice, but am I missing something?

I've had both...Cox DVR and it's not even close. The thing with Cox DVR is that you don't have to switch over to another video to see it. It doesn't require an extra remote and DVR includes a rewind feature while you're watching live TV so if you want to go back and look at something on a specific play in a game, you just hit rewind and see it.

TiVo includes that as well. With TiVo, you can rewind up to 35 minutes..

As for which is better, it's a matter of personal preference. I've got both, and I like them both. TiVo has some additional features (i.e. TiVo suggestions, which I don't think the COX DVR does--basically, it tracks what you like watching, and it records similar shows).

But, TiVo has the up front cost that Cox's DVR doesn't. That has to factor in as well....

Cox DVR will never think you are gay.

Tivo makes the little *bloop* noise when you press the buttons.

Just thought you should know that.

I've had 3 tivo's and in I think that noise has been turned on for a total of 5 seconds on all of them. Most of that was remembering where the setting is.
