I just need a place to vent off some of this frustration. So after my night class last night (at Nicholls in Thibodaux), I noticed a few little pieces of paper underneath my windshield wiper. One was a FREE sub from Subway, and the other was a free large pizza from Pappajohn's. They said it was only valid for 3 days and available for college students only, and must have a valid college ID and License. So I on my way home I decide to stop at the Subway right by the school to get my free sub. The girl told me it ended at 8pm ( it was then about 9pm) and she told me how to go about getting the 6in sub the next day. Here's what I find is very messed up. They had a guy in front of Subway (prior to 8pm) with credit card apps. You had to fill out a damn credit card application to get the sub, or the pizza for that matter. I just find this highly ridicules for them to be promoting free pizzas or whatnot to broke college kids and forcing them to fill out a credit card app to redeem it. Sorry about my little rant, just needed to get it off my chest.

yeap, I remember when I started college, you got lots of freebies for signing up for credit cards. If you are smart and can use it wisely then a CC with a 200 - 300 CC limit can really help a college kid, but usually that is not the case. They end up with several with that small limit, and very high APRs.

Yeap, they got me like that too about 9 years ago. I managed to get into 8grand in CC dept before I was 20. While not working, with just playing and a little College mixed in it is very easy to get out of control. Add that to finally living on your own is a making for disaster.

If its just an application, couldnt you fill out false information?

In my day, and that wasn't too long ago, the 80's, the only way they would give a student a card was if your parents cosigned. I had one it had a measley $500 limit on it. Thank goodness. Because I would have racked up some bills.

Johnny, what is this 80's you speak of?

The title of this thread reads kinda nasty...

you people need to learn self restraint. i have over 100,000 worth of credit and the only non-student loan/car loan debt i have is about 500 in credit cards.
