Presidential Election, 2008 (1 Viewer)

I think he means the nation of domination... that old wrestling group before the Rock became a title contender....

Vote ron Paul.

He is very exciting.

If you want politic to heat up and be interesting vote for Ron Paul!

I promise things would get interesting, and could we really get much worse off than we are headed?

I think what would really spice up this election is if the Republicans nominate Rudy and then the Christian Coalition stomps off in a huff and forms a splinter party.

Throw in a Democrat split from anti-war Demo's splitting off because none of the front runners for the Dem's will agree to an immediate withdraw and we might have ourselves a 1860's style election going on.

How happy would the muslim nation be if Obama was elected? I don't think I want to see that.
Probably no different than if Hillary, Rudy, or Mickey Mouse were elected.

What do you think their response would be and why?

>>(I ask this, because it seems Gore is much more popular now than when he ran for president)

Where do you get that from? I don't think Al Gore is that relevant anymore. Clearly more Americans (that voted) thought he'd be a better president, but it didn't work out that way. I don't believe he'd be a serious threat because he is too tied into global warming and has made himself into a lightning rod (similar to Hillary).

Which "mulsim nation" would that be? All of them? Pan-arabia? Iraq? The Taliban? Al Queda? What are you even talking about, the fact that Obama's dad was a Muslim?

I’m not impressed with the field and have become less so with each election. I’m not sure if this is indicative of my growing cynicism or a reflection of the caliber of the candidates. I suspect it’s a combination of both.

Often there is a major disconnect between what a candidate during a campaign says and what the candidate after winning the election and taking the oath of office do.

With Hillary, I have no idea what she will say on Iraq and Iran if she gets the nomination. One reason is that it is hard to figure out exactly what Hillary believes in other than electoral success and the political career of Hillary Clinton.

Another reason is that it is hard to figure out whether Hillary will believe that sounding tough will win her votes or lose her votes. Her natural inclination is to sound like the toughest person in the room so that nobody can get to her right on 9.11. But she has to know that a good percentage of her party base will vote third party or stay home if she sounds like John McCain on foreign policy and war. If Gore was worried, and with good reason, about the effect of Ralph Nader in 2000, imagine Hillary's concern if a Democrat opposed to Iraq goes third party or if the anti-war activists campaign that Democrats stay home.

If I am going to get the same foreign policy regardless of which candidate wins, I might as well continue to vote Republican. At least I will like the Republican Supreme Court nominees.

- Yeah, RJ, but you'll also get the Republican fiscal policies which, as of late, have been similar to that of the proverbial drunken sailor...
