The Science of Fasting (9 Viewers)

186.4 this morning so about 2.5 #'s since Valentines day. I noticed food tastes a lot different now. I get the natural sweetness in stuff because I'm not eating artificial or processed sugars anymore which blow away my palate.

It's amazing. Even the communion wafer at mass has a sweetness that I never detected. I did this sugar detox program this summer and able to get past a sticking point in my weight. It's a short read and simple to follow:

I find myself not even hungry. Did 24 hours for Fat(Fast) Tuesday, and 24 hours again this Tuesday, and I'm considering just waiting till tomorrow to eat at this moment(ate last night at 7:30), that could change of course.

I find it comes and goes a little for me. Sometimes I'm fine just skipping but others, I really want to eat so just listening to the body and eating when it tells me to.

I have been doing this for about a month now, worked up to skipping one day a week entirely and keeping my 8 hour window. I have enjoyed it so far.
It's helped me:
Control my drinking since I stop at the end of the window.
I've lost I think 5lbs total, which considering I have been not exercising I'm ok with the progression.
I need less sleep. I have been staying up later and getting up earlier and feeling slightly more awake when I do.
I think I am more irritable (but that's due to the lack of drinking and less the hunger I think)

Anyone else updating and having success with it?

Kind of stuck atm holding in the 185-190 range. But, I've started back eating more often and drinking a lot more. Decided Sunday to remedy it and did a good 36 hrs till last night for dinner. Will see...

Ya'll are going hard! (in a good way!)

I started doing 18:6 every Monday and Friday 3 weeks ago. That was in addition to stopping beer (caaaaaaaarbs), sticking to eating at home and committing to 5 days/week of cardio. I figured doing Monday and Friday did a couple things for me...I can't drink on Friday and Sunday nights since that's outside the window, and gave me some wiggle during the weekend.

I'm on the fasting bandwagon. Over the past couple months I've been doing ~24 hour fasts fairly regularly. My longest fast so far is about 3 days. I'm currently about 50 hours into an attempt at going for 7 days. If I end up just going for 4 or 5 days I'll be satisfied -- I figure aim high and if I fall a bit short it'll still be a success.

I do allow myself black coffee, tea, some coconut water with stevia leaf, and an occasional fish oil capsule during my fasts. I haven't been brave enough to do a pure water fast yet.

As long as I drink plenty of liquids there is no issue with hunger. Physically, I feel great while fasting. It's more of a mental challenge than anything.

I've lost a little over 6 lbs in two days. I'm down a total of around 25 lbs from when I was at my heaviest. I used to be somewhat of a health nut, but let things spiral out of control over the past couple years.

I do 16/8 seven days a week. Do recommend. Cardio in morning during fast. Lift in afternoon during feed.

I tried to do a 7 day water and occasional juice recently, but only made it to day 6. The benefits are amazing.

I'm at 70 hrs water/coffee only fast right now. Down 6#'s at the moment. I don't think my breath smells, but my mouth definitely feels like I need to brush my teeth constantly.

Does anyone else get insomnia when they start a fast?

Yes I only sleep 4 or 5 hours while fasting.
