Movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (1 Viewer)

Probably pretty standard stuff in case the movie is a big hit and they want to do a sequel. Most franchise contracts call for additional movies even if there isn't one planned just to protect the studio if they have great success with the film.

That being said, I could certainly see him appearing in the long rumored Boba Fett movie.

Yeah exactly. Would likely be a smaller type role and could totally see it being a Fett or maybe even a Hutt flick.

This looks fantastic. A lot of this footage has a dystopian feel. Which makes sense given the fact that the Empire is controlling everything, but we've only ever seen that from a macro perspective. Making Star Wars movies about "regular people" is a pretty smart move, IMO.

Yeah I mean its gotten a lot of flack for what sounds like a rocky production but at least from what I've seen I'm pretty excited about it.

So they lifted the review embargo a few days ago and Solo, for what it's worth, is currently sitting at 70% positive on Rotten Tomatoes, which puts it just a little north of Attack of the Clones on the Tomatometer. I've already got tickets for Saturday afternoon (Dolby), so I do hope it's better than that. The early buzz is that it's a little slow in the first half, but picks up as it goes on. I think the Last Jedi reviews were, in retrospect, over inflated (to say the least -- it's got a 91% positive rating from critics, but the audience rating is down to only 46% positive), so I'm wondering if critics may have been a little harder on this one? I'm just hoping for a fun popcorn movie.

I have to think that Lando in this movie will make it not suck no matter what else happens. Jar Jar reappears? Here comes Lando to smother him with a cape looking like the king of smooth while he's doing it.

Yeah, I read that he steals every scene he's in.

So I'm going to see it in about an hour.

If I roll up to the ticket window and bellow "SOLOOO!!! SOLLLLLOOOO!!!!" all Jabba-style you think they'll know what I'm asking for?

I got to the theater and all the regular tickets were sold out. Could've seen it in 3D but 3D gives me a headache, plus I hate the whole 3D-glasses-over-prescription-glasses ordeal. I'll give it another shot tomorrow night.

This will eventually need its own thread, but I'll park it here for now. Very promising.

James Mangold is writing and will direct a Star Wars stand-alone movie centered on Boba Fett, the feared bounty hunter and fan-favorite character, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.

'Star Wars': Boba Fett Movie in the Works With James Mangold (Exclusive)

Details for the Boba Fett storyline are being kept deep in the Sarlacc Pit. Mangold brought prestige to the superhero genre with Logan, which he co-wrote and directed, and was produced by Kinberg.

Hans Solo is kind of the Wolverine of the Star Wars series. A rough, seemingly unfriendly exterior but intrinsically a good person with a conscience for doing whats right when he sees serious injustice occurring. Solo has more of a roguish charm, he isnt centuries-old like Logan is but hes got a problem for authority figures, even Rebel generals and officers. Their both really highly trained savages who are forced to play it straight by society but are forced to make a choice when bigger events outside their control affect them personally. Wolverine in the comics and in the X-men films never was a child of privilege like Xavier was or this powerful telepath authority figure. Hes not exactly the compliant, choir boy all-American good guy like Cyclops, nor a devoutly religious person like Nightcrawler even though in the comics they both share a strong bond, his personality and his past are similar to Gambit's but hes got a darker past and he's done more terrible things with Sabertooth and Deadpool and he can't remember most of it.

Lol... good to see you again 2884.

I don't understand why this gets a movie. He looks cool and was kinda mysterious. We learned some background on him that was a nice addition. Outside of that, why do I care about this character's life?

What's next? VH-1 does an episode of Behind the Music with Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes? Does Lando get one now to show all the space ***** he slays? We going to do one for R2 and another for C3P0 before having them join in a "space buddy" flick?

Give me a trip of films, give Gareth Edwards a blank check then leave please.
