Movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2 Viewers)

I don't understand why this gets a movie. He looks cool and was kinda mysterious. We learned some background on him that was a nice addition. Outside of that, why do I care about this character's life?

What's next? VH-1 does an episode of Behind the Music with Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes? Does Lando get one now to show all the space ***** he slays? We going to do one for R2 and another for C3P0 before having them join in a "space buddy" flick?

Give me a trip of films, give Gareth Edwards a blank check then leave please.

I think Disney has been pretty clear about their intentions to milk this space-walrus-titty dry, so yeah, we might actually get all of those things. And I agree, we don't really need to know more about Boba Fett and what makes him tick, but I think it would be cool just to see him in action, and if they can come up with a good story, a Star Wars bounty hunter movie by the director of Logan has a lot of potential.

I'm OK with getting a Boba Fett movie as long as it's just him being a bad-arse and maybe catching some good guys and foiling some Rebel plans. I don't want a feel-good story or any way that I can relate to him being sad about his Dad being cloned and having him die and then be tourted by having to see him over and over in everyone else. I just want him doing something awesome and I want to hate him for it.

Exactly. Do not make him a sympathetic character, but instead make it so he's like the Terminator or Jason Voorhies, a relentless hunter with minimal dialogue, and make the audience sympathize and identify with his prey. That could be forking brilliant.

+1 rep (or whatever it's called now) for use of the term "space-walrus-titty".

And I would watch paint dry for 2 hours if it was Star Wars, and Disney knows it.

Saw it. Didn't hate it. Better than ROTJ by light years.

liked it a lot but didn't love it
about 1/2 way through the first notions of 'hey this is a patchworked movie' and then it was all 'was this original or retconned'
one character in particular drove me up a tree and i was certain the character was from the first draft

but action pieces were great - plot was strong
my son loved it and that's what matters

I liked it. It has flaws. It takes a while to get going and some of the action shots go by too fast to process what is going on. And there, I don't think this is too spoilery, heist movie cliches by the bucket.

But it's got a lot of heart and a lot of little AHA! moments, a couple of neat surprises. And I must say Han Solo is now the most developed character in the whole franchise - and that actor, I can't remember his name now, I had a lot of reservations about him. But he just IS Han Solo. He nailed it - not in an obvious way, but in a way that you totally buy who he is and who he is becoming.

Anyway, I dug it. I won't see here and say it's a great movie and I think a lot of people will probably dislike it, but for me it delivered.

I enjoyed the movie. I also think the actor did a good job of just "being" Han Solo, especially considering it is supposed to be a very young Han Solo that hasn't become his well-known cynical self yet. Several good easter eggs throughout the movie as well.

I do have a timeline question that would be a spoiler, though. Should we start another thread or does the spoiler tag really work across all platforms? Don't want to give anything away.

well we do have the spoiler tag now under the "insert" drop down
i think we had arrived at waiting a week from opening day to start freely talking spoiler/plot points
i'm personally not a fan of the separate threads b/c the conversations seem to drift back and forth between the two and it's hard to keep track

The spoiler tag works fine as far as I know. We did it for Deadpool 2 and not a single person complained.

I still haven't seen the movie, but for whatever reason, spoilers probably wouldn't bother me much.
