Here is something many of us have suspected for quite a while. The quarterback rich New York Jets (rich in terms of quantity, not necessarily in terms of quality) could be looking to unload Teddy Bridgewater. A lot could depend on performances during the early part of the preseason.

Any chance the Saints could be interested in Bridgewater just in case the Jets make him available via trade. I don't think the team would just cut him, and acquire no compensation.

I think Savage is on the roster because, more than anything, Brees likes a veteran backup to bounce ideas off of. Could Bridgewater fill that role? Has he seen/played enough football? It'd basically come down to what they value more between Hill's special teams contributions and Bridgewater's actual QB play. It would be nice to kick the tires. I know they're probably pretty set at DL and LB, but with Kikaha looking like a long shot, I'd make that swap just so both teams could see if it's a fit over the rest of the preseason.

I would like to see Bridgewater actually play in a game before there is talk of acquiring him.

Seems everybody wants to get rid of him, makes me think his knee is still an issue.

I would love to bring him in here and let him compete.

He is only 25 years old (3 years younger than Savage, 2 years younger than Hill). He has made a Pro Bowl and sat out a year all in a very short career.

I would love to have him come in here and be Drew’s heir apparent.

In both Minny and in NY it’s been a numbers game, and that’s the long and short of it. The Vikes were hell bent on getting Cousins, and nobody understood why the Jets brought him in to begin with. But let him sit behind Brees and there is your Steve Young to Brees’ Joe Montaña.

He has been a massive disappointment since he was drafted. Even before the injuries, he never amounted to much.

He was in the Pro Bowl the year before he ruined his leg.

With only 14 TD's and a few extra hundred yards from his rookie season.

It helped that the Vikings were 11-5 that year. Pro Bowl voting is fan based now, hardly much to go by....and that Vikings team hilariously choked in the playoffs to Seattle. Yet another playoff loss where their whiny fans cry over them getting screwed by a kicker or something, totally not their fault for turning the ball over.

With what you saw this evening do you think there is a QB not named Brees on this roster that could lead a team to 11 wins?

If healthy, Bridgewater is five times better than Savage.

Agreed.

He was in the Pro Bowl the year before he ruined his leg.

He had a very good season. That training camp injury was devastating and took two years to recover from. The knee injury was so bad it had his teammates puking when they saw it. The training staff there was smart enough to see that the circulation to the lower leg was shut off and pulled the leg out to reestablish circulation. If not, we would be talking about an amputee.

I think Bridgewater has a lot of potential to be an NFL starter.
