N/S Jaguars Moving To London A Possibility (1 Viewer)

I just do not see how logistically that could work. The travel is just too overbearing on the players and staff.

There was talk of the Bills possibly moving to Toronto a few years ago but the talk seems to have died down.

If they built and indoor arena... Toronto could work. London? Mexico City? China? Not so much. I understand that NFL is dying in the US outside of fantasy and daily fantasy. But there's other ways to fix it. Fix the problems you've created for yourself... don't create more by making the game international. Thursday games are bad enough. Foreign games would be worse and there's be a ton of them.

They would have a serious issue getting free agents. It would be tough to convince a player and his family to move to a different country.

The only way I see this could work is if the jaguars become a London/Jacksonville team at the same time. Then they would play in the US most of the time, but play in London 4 times a year or something like this.

Khan owns Fulham FC ...thats why the rumors i would imagine.

And like the Jags previously, they are just a game outside relegation zone. ( still early in season, but Roy Hodgson is manager and isnt that good of one )

They were relegated to First Division in 2014 thru 2017 - just made it back to EPL.

with the pound players would be losing money. the NFL would have to increase the salary cap for the team as well.

There's a lot of logistics at play here. Khan, whether you agree with this type of move or not, is an extremely shrewd businessman. He's reportedly already started to explore the process of keeping the team in America (for legal and tax reasons), but playing games in London (amount TBD).

If he can make certain things line up in those regards, I wouldn't be shocked to see this happen in a few years. That's something I would have decried years ago, but honestly for whatever reason, I'm not opposed to it now. And honestly, I don't think it would be as hard a pitch to free agents as we may think. I could easily see some players being intrigued by playing for a team in Florida (no income tax), while building their brand in Europe. No, they would never rival an EPL player in terms of endorsements, etc, but the opportunities are there nonetheless. If two of those hypothetical four London games were back-to-back, then you're looking at perhaps only three trips a season over four months. That's not terrible by any stretch when you consider that they aren't flying coach like most of us.

And hey, a trip to London every 8 years for the Saints would be fine by me. I thoroughly enjoyed the one trip I went.

Edited to add: Obviously I'd feel much different if it were the Saints. But the Saints fan base -- and most NFL fan bases -- obviously can't be compared to a still relatively new, and somewhat unenthusiastic Jaguars fan base.

My thoughts too, yet I’ve been thinking if any team goes it will be them. The shield wants a team there, badly. International growth and all.

I think that will be a harder sell (to the players of the team that goes) than door to door vacuum cleaner sales. ?
