Chargers may not be in L.A. for long (2 Viewers)

Chargers should just go home, but could they?

Do they have no stake in the new massive stadium they are going to be sharing with the Rams? Even if it's just a lease, would the Rams owner be cool with them just saying "meh, we aren't going to show up" while he loses tens of millions in revenue?

I'm still trying to figure out why some people in NYC choose the Jets over Giants.
Different situation but It is generational at this point. People are born into it. The Giants are the older team though. The jets start wasn’t easy but at least they weren’t an in state transplant team like the Chargers.

In LA, the Rams are the established franchise and they happen to be really good, with a young dynamic coach. Very easy to root for.

The Chargers are totally different story.

I understand it's a different situation and I generally agree.
I just think the Rams are gonna be the only team other than the Raiders that has a shot of working in L.A. based on the previous five decades of history.

The Rams to LA made sense. They were there for 50 years. LA is the 2nd biggest metro area in the US - 10x bigger than NOLA. So even if they have 10% of the interest in football as we do, they'd have the same amount of fans.

The Chargers made NO sense whatsoever. Their only chance was if they were the first team there and the Rams decided to stay in St Louis.

At this point, what do the Chargers even do? Go back to that dump in San Diego with their tails between their legs?

I was thinking like you^. I can certainly understand the cry for getting the Rams back in town. But the Chargers move just looked like someone else wanted to get in on the big market profit sharing.
Maybe going 'dutch' on that new stadium was the only way it was going to happen. But the 'two-for-one franchise deal' for L.A. is akin to a box of CrackerJacks. People buy a box for the candy-coated popcorn. But they tend to be somewhat indifferent about the 'prize inside' not long after they find out what it is.

as far as sports go in california, it is a college football state.

isn’t professional baseball and hockey more profitable in cali? i read that years, years ago.

the 49ers (blechhhhh yuck puke) and raiders (when successful) are the only franchises with steady fanbases. soon it will be only the whiners.

cali has multiples of every other sport franchise that their people actually enjoy. i understand the nfl wanting to make more money there, but it will be minimal at best. large state, large population.

fork it, give san antonio one of the teams instead. anywhere in texas, any pro team would have the crowds needed.

Any time the son of a successful NFL franchise owner inherits the team, well, this is what happens. And the team immediately goes into the toilet.

It's like when someone wins the lottery, and they have no idea how to handle money, and are broke in a year.

Mark Davis and Dean Spanos are prime examples.

Jerry Jones owns that territory. That is a great thing thankfully.
i lived in texas for four years. even a ton of cowboys fans like the texans and vise versa.

i’d give people sheet about one, then they would bring up the other to brag.

San Antonio will never have a team. Jerry Jones will never allow it.

He won't live forever, new owner may not have enough clout to prevent the move.

Portland could be a possibility, though I don't think they would approve a taxpayer financed stadium.
