The recently released Halloween movie basically said that all previous 18 sequels are null and void
Not even in a Bobby Ewing in the shower "bad dream" kind of way - they just never happened
And this new movie is technically Halloween 2
Pretty bold move
The only other time I can remember this being done was Superman returns which takes place after Superman 2 and disregards 3 and 4 (which is probably for the best)
Can you think of any other franchises that should follow suit?
The first to mind to me aren't technically sequels - it's the Star Wars Prequels,
I don't know if I've ever been as disappointed in a movie theater than I was watching Phantom Menace
I know that the TV cartoon series that are canon are heavily involved with the set up from the prequels but unless I messed it neither Force Awakens or Last Jedi made any reference of anything from them
Disney has already erased the vast extended universe canon (now Legends) with a wave of their hand. No reason they can't do it again
I'd love to see a do over of them - The fall of Anakin Skywalker should have been an epic Greek tragedy instead it was more or less a hissy fit.
In our own thread on force awakens someone had their own idea of the prequels that was worlds better than what we got (I'll see it I can find it later)
I wouldn't mind if Indiana Jones 5 ignores Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls either
