Greetings from the east. I was born 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia in 1972 and started watching football in the late 70s. I remember Archie, Muncie, Galbreath and some other notables (Hebert, #57, etc..). I had a soft soft for the Saints back then. The organization struggled for a while. I can remember the fans wearing brown paper bags on their heads to hide the shame. Fast forward to the 08-09 season and Katrina. I truly rooted for you guys and was elated for all of you when the Saints brought the Lombardi to NOLA. The Saints were born again. They had the QB to build around and a highly intelligent head coach to guide them.

We have battled two times since then and lost them by a combined 5 points. 27-24 in 2006 and 26-24 in 2013. The 2006 game left quite a deep wound. I distinctly remember the Saints getting the ball back up by 3 with 8 minutes left. The Eagles never got the ball back. Duce to the left, Duce to the right, Duce up the middle. He trucked Constadine on one particular run and gave Dawkins a 10 yard piggy back ride on another. I never felt so hopeless watching the Birds. The only solace taken from that game was the locomotive hit put upon Reggie by Sheldon in the opening minutes. I have heard Sheldon equate that hit to running through a cardboard box.

So here we are again. The third matchup in 13 years and back in NOLA. Much respect to the Saints and their fans. I hope the game is not a blow out and that the Eagles play with intense physicality, ferociousness and intensity on both sides of the ball. Let's enjoy this thing. E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!

Thanks for stopping by Nick, and here’s to a great game Sunday.

Also, I’m so glad we’re not one of those fan bases that is so uncreative that their main cheer is to spell the team’s name :hihi:

3rd matchup in 13yrs? Combined losses of 5pts?

Did you watch the 48-7 game this year?

He was referring to the two playoff games.

If he's an Eagles fan, he's watched every Eagles game this year, I assure you.

Every game and practically every snap. For some reason, I feet at total ease and completely relaxed for this game. I eagerly await the telling dream I should have within the next two nights that will tell me much more. Do you think the Saints will play a lot of zone? Nick tends to struggle with zone. In the divisional round last year against the Falcons, Doug called a low risk, mostly short passing game with Nick. In the second game against the Vikings, Nick took some deep shots to Alshon and Torrey Smith. I am thinking Doug will want to go after Apple and Coleman a few times.

That was definitely Reggie's welcome to the NFL moment. I think he still hasn't gotten over it. I remember watching him as an NFL network analyst talking about it, kind of resenting Drew for putting him in that position.

Here's hoping it's a fun game, everyone stays healthy, and the refs let em play.

Oh and we don't lose by 40 this time...

If any Saints fan is picking another blow out 40 point beat down they are delirious. It will be a respectable battle like when the Saints met the Eagles in 2014. The main thing to pay attention to is today's practice report and see if the offensive line for the Saints practices in full. If not the Eagles will stand a much better chance against Brees than our last meeting.

Nice post. I was pulling for the Eagles in the playoffs and Super Bowl last year. Doug Pederson seems like a good guy and so does Fletcher. The brother-in-law of a good friend of mine fixed up a car or 2 for Fletcher over in Mississippi. All of them are Miss St alums so they got to know Fletcher with that angle. He told me Fletcher is a really good guy, from a great family. And that's he's a redneck black guy. :)
