From Philly with love... (1 Viewer)

We have battled two times since then and lost them by a combined 5 points. 27-24 in 2006 and 26-24 in 2013. The 2006 game left quite a deep wound. I distinctly remember the Saints getting the ball back up by 3 with 8 minutes left. The Eagles never got the ball back. Duce to the left, Duce to the right, Duce up the middle. He trucked Constadine on one particular run and gave Dawkins a 10 yard piggy back ride on another. I never felt so hopeless watching the Birds. The only solace taken from that game was the locomotive hit put upon Reggie by Sheldon in the opening minutes. I have heard Sheldon equate that hit to running through a cardboard box.
!
welcome and thanks for posting
i am curious about the 2006 recap - from my memory you're conflating the regular season and postseason games
no?

I'm gonna be wearing my Saints gear around South Jersey on Sunday. If y'all don't see me post by sometime Sunday night, send the search gangs out for me :)

Every game and practically every snap. For some reason, I feet at total ease and completely relaxed for this game. I eagerly await the telling dream I should have within the next two nights that will tell me much more. Do you think the Saints will play a lot of zone? Nick tends to struggle with zone. In the divisional round last year against the Falcons, Doug called a low risk, mostly short passing game with Nick. In the second game against the Vikings, Nick took some deep shots to Alshon and Torrey Smith. I am thinking Doug will want to go after Apple and Coleman a few times.

The usual is to mix up man and zone. Apple's been a lot of help, although like all CBs he can get beat. However, we've been able to play a lot more man since we got him, and our pass D numbers in the last 10 games of the season are actually very, very good (did the arithmetic myself).

I don't think there will be a lot of Coleman to go after. The pleasant surprise has been the play of Vonn Bell and especially PJ Williams, who has stepped up massively at slot corner since Patrick Robinson went down for the year in week three.

We have some bozo’s on this forum. Why would someone waste time disliking the OP’s post?

The dislike feature should be disabled. If you cannot see who it is to dislike a post, it should be disabled. It is a joke. Others should be able to see who you are, that dislike’s a post. Protecting the posters with no balls.

I think Saints play an underneath zone and take away those quick 1st and 2nd reads.
Foles struggles after his first quick reads. He was getting the ball out in less than 2.5 seconds on that 1st read. Take that away.
Pass rushers for Saints get rheir hands up to block the lanes.
So the combination of taking away those quick passes and clogging the passing lanes and getting their hands up is the way to stop the Eagles offense.

Agree with st Nick, we’re at ease in Philly.
The Winner of this game goes to the SB. As much as I want that to be the Eagles, I will root for the Saints if we lose.
I am impressed with the decent posts from the fan base here, much better than the thrash on Chicago boards last week.

Probably a lot of zone, make Foles hold the ball and make reads.

Greetings from the east. I was born 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia in 1972 and started watching football in the late 70s. I remember Archie, Muncie, Galbreath and some other notables (Hebert, #57, etc..). I had a soft soft for the Saints back then. The organization struggled for a while. I can remember the fans wearing brown paper bags on their heads to hide the shame. Fast forward to the 08-09 season and Katrina. I truly rooted for you guys and was elated for all of you when the Saints brought the Lombardi to NOLA. The Saints were born again. They had the QB to build around and a highly intelligent head coach to guide them.

So here we are again. The third matchup in 13 years and back in NOLA. Much respect to the Saints and their fans. I hope the game is not a blow out and that the Eagles play with intense physicality, ferociousness and intensity on both sides of the ball. Let's enjoy this thing. E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!

Here’s to an injury free game for both teams⚜️?⚜️?⚜️?⚜️?⚜️?

Here's hoping it's a fun game, everyone stays healthy, and the refs let em play.

Oh and we don't lose by 40 this time...

Let's hope Dee doesn't give Brees pink eye.
