I know we have a pels board but (2018/19 edition) (1 Viewer)

Cliff Notes:
Windhorst describes the “information war” going on behind the scenes across the NBA—and presumably centered on Anthony Davis—as like nothing he’s ever seen in his 16 years covering the NBA. If it’s true that the Pelicans have been stringing the Lakers along and outsourcing bad-faith trade communications to the same reporters who facilitated what the Pelicans all along saw as tampering, and did all this to nuke the Lakers’ internal chemistry and torpedo the second half of their season, holy sheet! They invented a new kind of tampering, and deployed it like a gosh darned smart-bomb! The Pelicans may be horrendous at building a contender around a generational talent, but for sheer dark-hearted vindictiveness, they are in a class all their own.

I'm really sick of people talking about how "horrendous" the Pelicans are at building a contender around Davis. Again, he's only been here 6.5 years and half those years were developmental for him. He's still only 25 now.

Paul Pierce spent almost a decade in Boston playing below .500 ball before the Celtics put a championship team around him. And Minnesota and Milwaukee built contending teams around Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, but that didnt stop either of them from bolting to that same losing franchise in Boston.

Truth.

We continuously had talent around him. Injuries often derailed us and....frankly....his ability to close out games.

And had he not gone this route and we could have been the ones to trade for Barnes......oh man......

But we just got Markieff Morris. So ok.

It's never just one thing. It's not just Demps, and it's not just injuries, and it's not just Gentry (though at this point, I think the book on him is pretty well established.)

Either way, I'm ready for a total reboot.

I'm pretty excited about the trade deadline passing today without an AD trade to troll the entire Lakers fan base.

I've seen the theories about Demps playing Trump-dimensional chess to destroy the Lakers, but I don't see it. There has never been any indication that the Pelicans took any initiative in trade talks with the Lakers -- there were report that Demps wouldn't even take their calls for days after Rich Paul demanded a trade. There are no reports that the Pelicans have ever made an offer, just that they've sat back and let the Lakers bid against themselves. Sure, the Pelicans leaked the offers to the media, but even there they really had no choice when Paul and LeBron were feeding all of the BS to Woj, Shams, and the other NBA media guys about AD wanting the Lakers and not wanting Boston or any other alternative that had real assets to offer.

If the Lakers are in chaos, it's because of LeBron and his buddy Rich Paul thinking they could bully another NBA franchise into panicking and trading a superstar to their team, period. They have no idea what they are doing, and AD is the victim of horrible advice from his agent. Either AD is lying when he says that he didn't want the trade demand to go public, or he is completely naïve and getting played by the people who are supposed to represent him. I'm not mad at him for wanting to leave the team, but I'm content to see him sat down for the rest of the season without ever appearing on court in a Pels uniform again.

This 100%.

I'll also add that if Demps and Gentry aren't fired after the season ends, all of this is for nothing.

A Boston deal for Anthony Davis in offseason is expected to include - Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, Al Horford and 3 first round picks, per

Seen it retweeted by NOLA media no idea how much stock to put into it

I wasn’t much of a Lebron fan before but I really despise the guy now.
The whole injury to his hand last year... the attempt to manipulate us for AD.... and calling himself “kingjames”....he’s just a spoiled punk.

And James and AD’s agent really screwed the pooch here. They completely misread this situation. They’re sitting there with nothing but turmoil. It’s the epitome of hubris. I look forward to rooting against Lebron from here on.

Niko to Bucks for Jason Smith and Stanley Johnson per ESPN.

yup
so long and thanks for all, mirotic

He was a great one-year rental and he helped us get to and win in the playoffs last year when Boogie went down. Unfortunately we need to clear space for rebuilding. Good luck Niko!

On the other hand, I loved Jason Smith when he was with us before. The play where he ran down the court and basically tackled Blake Griffin on a breakaway stands out in my mind til this day.

Seems we also got 4 second round picks for Niko. That's a really nice haul.
