Audi's electric sport-sedan (e-tron GT) to compete with Tesla unveiled at LA auto show (1 Viewer)

My MiL / FiL drive a Tesla and a Panamera.

They drive the Tesla all day everyday while the top of the line Porsche sits. I think it has 3k miles in 18months.

Just yesterday I was told that they've already decided that they're planning to buy some new electric Porsche called the Taycan. Sounds fun, but I'm surely hoping when they ditch the old Panamera they'll sell it to me for trade in because that thing is a beast!

The Audi is on the Taycan chassis, I believe.

I think most of us missed it, but Audi had a Super Bowl commercial that featured the e-tron GT. It's still not set to sell until 2020, but it's sure nice to look at.

Good for Audi. They've always been known for benign appearing vehicles. Even the R8 had always been kinda meh to me, despite its performance attributes. This E-Tron is a beauty. Perhaps a game changer.

I'm hoping my next vehicle purchased later this year will be my last of the internal combustion class. though I'm not feeling particularly inspired by the Telsa 3 series.

My dream car is still the NSX, till Audi shows me otherwise...

Doesn't the new NSX have two electric motors up front and one monster IC wedged behind the seats?

yep about 600 horses in the rear. I assumed motors on all four wheels, along with battery modules under the seats

My company rented me a normally aspirated 450 hp Camaro SS for a couple months while I was down in Va. I found it to be squirrely upon launching it. A Vette is understandably more refined than a Camaro. The NSX is reliable daily driver, though. I'd say the NSX would give a 911 quite a run in many aspects.

I haven't seen an i8 on the road, though they look cool on paper.

My wife has decided to get out of the SUV and get a sedan and she's tending towards the BMW 550 GT. Anyone know anything about it? It's fast as hell and drives very nicely.

what year? I thought BMW quit making those GTs of the 550 series. I know the 440ix coupe I'm looking at is rated top 3 of that class, as it was back in '17. I decided on the Infiniti Q60 sport despite side by side comparisons telling me not to. I guess I wanted to be different...

I had a 2018 535ix GT as a dealer-service loaner a couple of months ago. That’s got the 3.0 six with the twin turbos. Same engine as my 640, so it felt the same - drove like a 5 series. The 550 is quite a bit sportier with the eight cylinder.

But all in all, it’s no different than the 5 sedans other than that hatchback - which I suppose is an eye of the beholder thing. I’m not a fan of the look, but driving one for two days, I could see that if you want the cargo space and access but don’t want a wagon or suv, it could be useful.
