Yahoo article on AAF TV ratings.

Big win for AAF, as new football league posts better ratings than Rockets-Thunder
Never, ever underestimate the power of football in America.

The Alliance of American Football, a league most people probably couldn’t name one team from before this week, debuted on Saturday night. Its debut, with two games on CBS, was up against a great NBA matchup between James Harden’s Houston Rockets and Russell Westbrook’s Oklahoma City Thunder on ABC, a fantastic game that ended with a comeback Thunder win.

And the AAF posted better television ratings.

That’s a heck of a victory for the new football league, which generally played to positive reviews in its opening week.

I'm not ready to jump but I see MANY here are enjoying the AAF. What was the consensus of Andrus' poll because I think a separate AAF board is needed. There's like a dozen AAF threads. Be afraid, NFL.

They’re not afraid. The second game tonight is being broadcast on their network.

Naw. Not yet. Let’s see how it goes. It’s still the shiny new thing and it’s better than the whose going to coach the Saints after this year, and the jimmy graham threads.

It has a good shot. It has a semi partnership with the NFL so they have that backing.

The League was set up by a lot of ex-NFL guys (Bill Polian, Troy Polamalu, etc). They aren't directly tied to the NFL but they are definitely complimentary. For instance, a player has an automatic option to get out of his contract if the NFL wants to sign him. It will do well because it understands its role. It will be what the USFL could have been if Trump and the LA Express owner (forget his name) didn't try yo move that league to the fall. Basically it's following Dave Dixon's original vision for spring time football.

Just throwing it out there. If this season is successful, look for them to move away from CBS Sports Network and put more on CBS or TNT.

If they were smart...if...they would work this into sort of the "farm team" thing like the baseball Minors, something they were sort of doing with NFL Europe.

It's a good place to test rules, technology, equipment, replay concepts...also develop coaching talent.

The tensions would come in where something that works for watch-ability and quality of the game in this league conflicts with needs of NFL advertisers or the NFL itself in terms of control of or influence on officiating.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out as more of a competitor or a complement...

Had the Superdome Screw Job taken place a year prior, you can bet NOLA would have had a team (either in the AAF or XFL). The stadium on Tulane's campus would be a good venue...and I think fans would have showed up as a middle finger salute to Crooked Roger Goodell and the Corrupt NFL.

If

too much if

you know it's true too.

I dont like the no kickoff thing. No matter how many times the announcers try to sell it to me.

I like it. haven't seen a whole game yet but I'm trying to remember

I think we will get a Team eventually. Let’s let the leagues get their feet wet. So far so good!

Actually I think the AAF would be better served putting teams in markets not served by the NFL. Portland or Upstate New York for example.
