Lattimore: Has it appeared to anyone that Lattimore isn't as fast as he was in 2017? I've noticed a few times this year where some receivers simply out ran him. I don't really recall this being an issue in 2017. If so, is it due to his ankle that he had surgery on during the off season?

Jordan: Has Cam Jordan regressed in 2018 compared to 2017? If so, was it injury related or due to a style of change in the defense?

To be clear, I am not suggesting or saying that Cam & Lattimore or bad in any way. They are the cornerstone of our defense. I am just asking to see if anyone else has noticed this, or are my eyes playing tricks on me.

Lattimore's rookie season was so good that the bar was set exceptionally high. I did notice that he seemed to give up a LOT more this year. Now, I don't know for certain but I seemed to remember reading several times that his work-ethic slacked off because of his wild success in year one. Again, I DON'T KNOW IF THAT'S TRUE. But it was evident to me that he was beaten more in his sophomore year than his rookie year.

Cam is still great but he needs a consistent threat on the other side. I think with Davenport fully healthy next year and HOPEFULLY Rankins doing his thing fully healthy next year, we can all see how ridiculously good Cam is.

I thought I remember some of the coaches saying Latt did not take the offseason seriously enough and did report heavier and slower. By mid season, he seemed to be back in form. And Cam. I just love me some Cam on that field, anytime, any position, even if SP wants him to run the read option as a QB! Love to see that, but I think that belongs to Hill.

idk the details. Maybe Latt bulked up in the offseason. I have not heard anyone say that. But one thing Coach Pete talks about is that there is an ideal weight per speed for each players based on their physical characteristics. Too much muscle for a WR or CB can slow them down as well as slow down their cuts. Pete says there's an ideal balance between flexibility and strength for optimal speed of CBs, WRs, and RBs.

I remember one year the Giants DB Jason Sehorn showed up with an additional 15 lbs of muscle and his coaches HATED IT!! Told him to lose the muscle immediately. He bulked up too much during the off-season and it cost him some crucial speed.

I agree that Lattimore appears to be bigger muscle wise than last year.

I saw that more earlier in the year and not at all later. Running right there with Brandin Cooks more than a few times. many games would go without me even seeing much action his way.

I wouldn't worry about him. He'll be fine.

I love Cam’s motor and leadership and I almost feel blasphemous in suggesting that Cam maybe a bit overrated as a pass rusher, lacking explosive speed. Unlike a prototypical speed rusher he gets a lot of sacks late in the play due to good coverage or flush from another DLineman. I agree with a lot of you that a good rusher opposite Cam would really open him up to a career year next year.
I would almost be tempted to check the trade market but can’t due to cap ramifications.

Honestly, Lattimore wasnt as on lock in coverage as he was last year. The INTs were down, foresure, but he more than compensated for that via 4FF and 3FRs. In other words, he found other ways to make impact plays. Those are traits that all great players have. So, I aint worried about Marshon at all. Plus, that was barely year 2. I expect an evolved 23 coming into this revenge season. And Cam, is just Cam. That dude is always on in some way shape or form. If he's not making the play, he's affecting it some way. I see zero regression from our resident Predator.

Lattimore by most accounts showed up out of shape, heavy and spent the off-season eating the cheese. I believe he even admitted it in an article about week 8. His was definitely a case of the sophomore jinx, and I doubt it will happen again.

Jordan I love, but he’s always been more of an all around DE, not strictly a pass rusher. He is super strong, tenacious, and never gives up. But even coming out of college wasn’t super fast. However, with the sack increases all across the line, it’s as good as anything. If the opposing team doubles Jordan, Rankins and Onyemata came with the pressure. Also, if you believe Andy Reid talking about defenses, for most of the season there simply wasn’t enough time for an outside pass rusher to get tot he QB. With the changes in minimizing hits and contact, balls were out before a DE could take the 7-8 steps to pressure a QB. Reid remarked going forward the DT position is more valuable because it’s 3-4 steps and they are in the QBs face.

Jordan was Jordan , he’s GREAT as a pass rusher but not ELITE however he is a Elite DE he’s elite against the run and great against the pass and a TOP 5 DE in the league and his era with 3 more seasons like the last 2 and “a couple of rings” we could be seeing Cam as a
Future First round HOF

I consider elite Top 5

Lattimore took the cheese that simple it wasn’t he regressed he just didn’t improve , teams had a full year of film and studying him he covered #1s last year so I don’t buy that logic IMHO he just was lazy and when he actually did try to shake back he was decent but I believe his early season failures having to face Antiono Brown,Cooks ,Evans , Jones, Cooper, Thelien, Jeffery that’s All top 10/15 receivers in 10 of 16 games is real. Along with a lot of off man he played instead of press he seemed to get beaten more at the line this year he’ll get coached up by Glenn if he’s as good as we say he is and correct the issues in year 3

Players ebb and flow, it's rare to see elite level play game after game, season after season. How defenses and offenses call games also has something to do with it as well. I thought the defense noticeably improved this season. They were carrying the team the last several games of the season, so I can't really complain too much.

Cam had an excellent season and is super reliable. Not worried at all about him. Latt started a little slow, improved a good bit later in the season. It happens. Even the greats have slow starts. Nothing to really be too concerned with imo.

Don't forget the team had the top ranked rush defense for nearly the entire season and near the top of the league with 49 sacks. Tbh, we are spoiled, lol.
