Just saw this on Saints Wire on Landon Collins he may be available in F/A (1 Viewer)

Landon Collins was one of the main guys that was outspoken in his dislike/disdain towards Eli Apple. He’s a very good player, but I don’t think our defense needs that animosity among our DBs

Pro bowl level guy. I don't see us going after someone like him this year. If Marcus Williams doesn't progress this year I could see us making a move for another starter next year. Vonn Bell played much better. When we signed Coleman it was to be a supplemental player imo. That didn't work out and I could see us looking for another rotational guy, but not a starter or someone with a starter's price tag.

The article states that they buried the hatchet and Collins said they talked and buried the hatchet awhile ago. He said "that's my guy, that's my brother I have his back and we know what we need to do". We cut Coleman that saves 4 million right there. I would think if we to even entertain the thought of that Payton would talk with Eli to get the real scoop. If the knowledge that Payton has total control over this locker room then there is nothing to worry about. We signed the so called "cancer" and it has worked out pretty well for us.

Maybe we won't but there are a lot of opinions that our secondary was our weakest spot on the defense. With Robinson coming back(hopefully at a high level) and you add a guy like Collins the defense takes another step forward.

We will have questions along the D line this year and if that's the case the secondary will be targeted much more than last year. Of course this is all speculation but it makes for a good conversation if anything.

No way I would invest the kind of money in Collins as it would take to sign him.

This convo keeps me going this time of the year. I agree that he would make us better. I just would rather spend that money resigning Okafor, sign a DT and look for another LB to replace Klein. If Robinson comes back healthy and our CB's are Lattimore, Apple, Robinson, PJ, and one other that we sign I'm ok with that. I personally think Marshon will come to camp more prepared and in better shape. Apple should be better with a full offseason with us. PJ played above my expectations this year. Robinson brings a vet presence, but his time in New Orleans has been marred with injury for some strange reason so I'm skeptical about his health.

I like Collins but we have an in the box safety (Vonn Bell did a pretty good job last year), what we need is someone to replace Marcus Williams and give us a true center fielder (que Earl Thomas).

I agree our cap money is very valuable especially since we so little to play with. We will have more pressing needs and I agree Marshon will come back stronger. I think that ankle injury last year was worse than it appeared to be he played on it for a long time those only fully heal with time. I think it hindered his offseason training I don't think it was him eating the cheese as some would say.

P Rob has had a bad history of injuries with us and I guess we can only hope he holds up for the rest of his contract he would have made a big difference in our season. I think Apple will breakout this year I think it will be his 4th year in the league? With him being in New York and the huge spot light and criticism that hinders a young players confidence and growth. It also didn't help that the Giants had McAdoo for a coach. We do have to be very frugal and precise in our investments but that's why we have Loomis.

Thomas would be nice to have on a short term basis but money wise even at this age will not come cheap. I imagine Thomas is looking for that last big payday but yea I agree it would be nice. I hate to admit it but it seemed that Williams was still shaken from the year before which is understandable. I just hope it doesn't turn a promising player into a mediocre one that we give up on in the future Marcus seems like a good kid maybe he will bounce back.
