Major fire at Notre Dame Cathedral (Paris) (1 Viewer)

Because it's a major historical site and no matter if they rebuild it, it'll never be the original or the same. Sad day.
Yeah. And it's been there so long, you think it'll always be there and you have time.

When it was "just" smoke, I thought, it's okay, it's not that bad. Then they showed fully engulfed flames. I'm not sure why I'm this upset.

I know - it’s a strange feeling to be so inexplicably emotional. I think that it’s just such a iconic piece of Western civilization, it’s sort of just part of us all in some subtle way.

Yes... this is a very sad day indeed..

Are they 100% that is was a remodeling accident?

I know it's not close to the same, but this reminds me of when The Cabildo caught fire from a welders torch..

Man, it survived the French Revolution, only to succumb to renovations... Crazy..

I don’t know how they could be 100% of anything at this point - at least not in public. Somebody might know exactly what happened but that’s not really the focus right now as far as what information is public.

I remember my MIL did one 3D puzzle in her life and it was Notre Dame. Something like this one.
