Watch recommendations (2 Viewers)

I have a few, mostly leaning towards Japanese automatic stuff, but a couple Swiss and Russian pieces as well.

Budget is certainly a factor.

the 300+/- was always my sweet spot.

The Seiko Presage SRPB41 Cocktail Time, Seiko SKX009, and Seiko SRPC93 "Save the Ocean" Samurai on aftermarket bracelets are my primary rotations right now.

However, I made the mistake not too long ago of stepping into a store in Houston that carried Tudor, and now my watch budget is on hold as i slowly piece together the funds for a Black Bay.

A general word of advice to the OP - I check a site called touchofmodern.com every day. They always have some sort of luxury watch post, often with several different manufacturers. The prices are usually decent too, but mainly you might want to put it on your website rotation for the next month or so just to get a good idea of what's out there and what the ranges of prices might look like for different brands and models.

Now that my kids are full swimmers (ages 4 and 6), I'm spending a lot of time in the pool - and we have a few beach trips planned this summer, including a week in the Caribbean. I have been thinking I want to get a nice looking, well-made sport watch with a rubber/silicone band that I can wear in the pool (taking stainless bracelet watches in a chlorinated pool isn't good over the long term, IMO) and to take traveling with me to the beach and on summer trips without worries if somehow it was stolen or damaged.

But I was having a hard time picking one. I like the Tag aquaracer with the rubber strap but at $1,400, that's too pricey for my purposes. I was looking at a Victorinox (swiss army) but that seemed kind of ho-hum.

Then I discovered this LIV brand, it's a new company with young founders who wanted to make quality, hand-made swiss-made timepieces with youthful appeal and accessible pricing. The reviews have been really good on quality, and I like the look. I'm going to order the GX Alarm model with silicone band. At $360 (plus additional 10% off if you buy direct), it seems like a winner.

The amount of attention to detail and time dedicated to the design of this watch is what makes it stand out from other pieces in the same space. The watchmakers of the GX1-A were so convinced they had something good that they went to the public with their piece through the Kickstarter platform and went on to become the highest funded timepiece in Kickstarter history. . . .The GX1 was made to provide an affordable option for a high quality adventure watch that has a very detailed design over and above its sturdy frame. The workmanship in this watch is definitely something to be appreciated the catch however is that it is quite a rugged looking timepiece so it isn’t going to be for everybody.

Here's the black, but the grey is pretty money too.

the grey is really money. thats a good looking timepiece and up to 100m water resistant ( anything at/over 100m is truly good for immersion in a pool etc )

Thanks for the link as this may be Fathers Day asking gift. lol.

I don't really have a preference in looks....I just see it and like it. I have a couple of Citizens, a couple of Original Grains, and a couple of the old Wittnauers.

This is my Wittnauer Belasco

When I get a real job, I'd love to look into getting a watch. It's been over 10 years since I last wore one. I'd enjoy wearing a nice one at some point.

Anybody here ever heard of Waldhoff? I don't know anything about them other than they seem to do crowd funding for their watches. Really like this one but not looking to buy a piece of junk

That LIV company I posted earlier also does crowdfunding (kickstarter) - and the reviews are very solid on quality. So I don't think crowdfunding is an indicator of quality, just check for reviews that look independent/reputable.

I sometimes look at the nicer watches out there. They can be intriguing to look at, but I usually find something else to spend money on.

I have these two . . .

Before these, I was strictly timex man.
