People in NYC lose their collective poop when the power goes out. It’s funny, yet sad at the same time. Soft as wet Kleenex. The world is not ending. Get some candles and batteries and deal with it like the rest of us have to from time to time. Sheesh

Hurricane in Louisiana......ho hum.....lights out in NYC....it’s the end of the world!

Your post was the first I heard about it
Then I went to Twitter

I was in NY for the 03 blackout and luckily it happened at midday so by the one it got dark most everyone had acclimated and it was pretty chill
My buddy and I tooled around on his Vespa and saw all the restaurants with their pop up parties bc they were going to lose the food anyway

I’ve been on subways that had temporary power outages and that’s just no fun
You’re jammed with strangers in a metal tube underground in the dark
Few people would handle that well

SUPERSTORM Sandy

When it's the biggest city with the biggest coverage, make it the BIGGEST weather phenomena evah.

Friends in Manhattan said the '03 blackout was no big deal. Of course, now it has to be the apocalypse.

Why are we saying apocalypse?
I see tweets about broadway shows finishing their shows a cappella on the streets for the audiences

Coming soon to Netflix, a 10 part docuseries:

Profiles of Courage - Blackout 2019 - Six Hours of Hell in Manhattan and the Heroes Who Survived It

We are supposed to have reliable electrical supplies in this country and when the lights go out in a place that absolutely depends on electricity to move people up and down, light lightless elevators and corridors, force ac into air-locked places it becomes dangerous. In a place that's been attacked by terrorists and one where they're warned attacks against the grid will come someday, it's pretty understandable some of them might freak out. When you've got old folks living in windowless apartments in 100 degree weather, they're entitled.

I lived there during a blizzard in 1992 when it snowed so much and got so cold I thought I was going to die. They went about their business. Houston and NOLA shut down for a dust of snow a few years ago and they just put on their hats and boots and go to work.

Must we demean everyone for everything?
