What is everyone’s thoughts about the possibility that this is Drew’s last season? It’s July, it’s slow and if there’s another thread where this question is beaten to death please direct me.
But I’d love to hear anyone/everyone’s general feeling on 7-21-2019 about this being it for our QB or not

I think he is going to stay a few more years. I believe he would really like to have at least one year without Brady in the league. So, unless Drew really feels like he is slipping with no way for him and the team to work around it, I feel he will stay a while longer. JMO, of course.

I believe Brees said it best, himself. He's taking it year by year. He'll ponder how he feels after the season is over, how productive he feels he can be, how much he still enjoys playing, among other contributing factors, and then go from there. I think it's possible he could play a few more years, maybe even 3. I'd be pretty surprised, but not 100% shocked if this is it. You never know. We should try to cherish every game with him from here on out. Life without Brees is going to be tough to get used to.

This is why I just had to get tickets for training camp this year. I truly believe he will stay longer, but I wanted a chance to see him up close and personal at least once, so this may be it.

I’ve said since last year I think he will sign a 2 year extension and retire after NEXT year after back to back SBs and forever cement himself as the GOAT

Double edged sword we're dealing with. When we win the Superbowl this year there's a 90% chance he retires on top.

I'm okay with that. Not happy, but okay. After everything he's done for the Saints, accomplished on the field, and for the NO region in general, the man deserves to go out however he sees fit. He has already exceeded my expectations, and delivered a SB that I never thought I'd experience in my lifetime. Whether he's riding a white horse into the sunset, or we're propping him up behind center like a Weekend At Bernies, I'm grateful for whatever else he gives us, for as long as he wants to. It's all lagniappe at this point, IMO, although another SB would sure be nice. And I'm sure he'd agree!

I think the Saints are trying to lock down their young core players (Thomas, Latt, Kamara) in an effort to "get ahead", in some respects, the cap nightmare that Drew's contract voodoo will dump on the team once he retires. I know there's ways to work money into deferred bonuses that are more "cap friendly" but what we'll all see once Brees hangs up the cleats is just how expensive it has been to have one of the best QBs ever on essentially a "year-to-year" lease.
