Saints Training Camp Updates 8-11-19 (1 Viewer)

plus these are the way down roster WRs - we don't know if they're running the correct routes or not
we hope so but there are many factors at play that aren't just the person the camera happens to show

Sorry to break this to you, but all of the starting WR’s were in the 1st two drives. But he was still a wee bit slow with some decisions when 1st read was covered. That said, he is ahead of Hill, to me.

i thought they were referring Taysom and that's who i meant
i went back and read Rev's original tweet and i'm still not sure which QB the responder was referring to
i thought teddy had 2 'held the ball too long'
the def holding play and the sack
for the most part he was good with his read/delivery

In spite of his solid camp, he is still in an uphill battle to make the roster; he’s currently fifth or sixth on their depth chart. There’s a solid chance he might get released or traded if they can get a late rounder for him.

Well the way the Cleveland color guys sounded he was a lock to make the team and was having probably the best camp out of any of the other defensive tackles. He showed in our camp last year that he is a NFL player and quite a good one I might add. I wish we still had him on the roster over guys like Sylvester Williams, Ziggy Hood, and Taylor Stallworth.

But from the looks of Mario Edwards he doesn’t look like he will be playing too much defensive end. I wonder what his current weight is? It’s got to be close to 300.

I think he and Stallworth were pretty close to even money last pre-season. Lawrence was a 3 tech and Stallworth a 1-tech. We were set at 3-tech with Rankins and Onyemata. At 1-tech we had Davison and... nobody. We needed a 1-tech rotational guy more than we needed a 3rd string 3-tech. Stinks we can't keep them all, but that's the NFL. We kept the right one for where we were at last year. And Stallworth is very likely to be our #2 NT again this year, so wemade out pretty good.

I believe Taysom still has some seasoning to go before he is the final product, and with the current staff he will get every opportunity. He could be the next Chase Daniels, he could be the next Randall Cunningham, it will be interesting to see where things go for him.

My biggest concern about Taysom as a full time QB is if he has the arm strength to push the ball deep.
The really good “running” QBs have all had big arms that they fire downfield when a defense breaks down after the QB breaks contain. Cam Newton took that to a SuperBowl appearance the year he just ran around most of the time and waited for Ginn to take the top off the defense.
Cunningham, Vick, Newton, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson all had/have big arms. I’m not sure Taysom that kind of arm strength...

Hill has a stronger arm than Brees or Bridgewater by a considerable margin. He just needs to let it fly. Arm strength is definitely not the issue. I’m not sure what you’re seeing.

Arm strength isn't a concern. Really need to see Taysom to make some intermediate throws in small windows before he can seriously be considered for #2, much less heir-apparent. Then we can work on progressions in pocket.
