My question is where are they finding these kickers? We get Lutz from them and now they trade another. Somebody there is doing a great job finding and evaluating kickers.
Norwegian kicker Kaare Vedvik is joining the Vikings.

Three days after Vedvik's lights-out preseason performance, the Baltimore Ravens announced Sunday they traded the 25-year-old special-teamer to the Minnesota Vikings. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Minnesota will send back a 2020 fifth-round pick.

Vedvik hit four field goals against Jacksonville on Thursday night, including a 55-yard moonshot, and launched two 50-plus-yard punts, as well. But Baltimore had no place for the kicker-punter; the Ravens already have an All-Pro at kicker in Justin Tucker and a veteran punter in Sam Koch.

Yep. Surprised me, too. Maybe because he is a kicker/punter and could save them a roster spot? I don't know.

Who knows what our GM is thinking.
We just fired our longsnapper.
We were alternating between two and it was causing Dan Bailey fits.
After the trade they sent the longsnapper out so we're going with the new guy I guess at long snapper, and now Bailey might be gone because of $$$ (and he's had a rough pre-season.

We need every dollar we can save, so finding a guy who can kick and punt will be out next best idea so we can keep an extra position player.

The Ravens have the premiere Special Teams coach in the NFL. Kickers and punters go there knowing that if they don’t win the jobs (that they are trying out for) they have a strong chance of being picked up elsewhere.

This move was a smart one if the guy pans out.

You know, it's interesting that you say that because we were told our Special Teams coach was the best in the NFL for years until fans started pointing out to the radio networks that we sucked at kicking since he's been here.

I believe your special teams coach is excellent, but I also wonder if this is one of those things the radio networks for the team keep repeating to their fanbase wherever they are.

How is your "Capologist"? We have a guy who manages our salary cap who everyone calls a "Capologist" and if you listen to our radio network, you would have to believe no one else understands the concept of math as well as this guy, and that he somehow is able to leverage the Cap beyond the abilities of any other GM.

Do you have a good capologist too?
For some reason ours sucked bad this year. (Maybe it's because we're at the cap now).

It seems like an odd thing to do, but I remember in the 09 draft being furious that we traded up to draft a punter in the 5th round. Of course, that punter ended up being Thomas Morstead, now hands down the greatest punter in franchise history and all-around swell dude in the community who's still going strong in his 11th season with the team. Yeah, your new guy could end up being a Roberto Aguayo or Russell Erxleben level train wreck, but ya never know.

We draft special teams. We just stink at it.

2018 - 5th round - Daniel Carlson. Cut before halfway into first season
2013 - 5th round - Jeff Locke - four dismal seasons

Be great if this guy is decent and can stick with us for 15 years.

The important thing is that they kept the Bears from getting him. ?

True.
It's odd to have a divisional opponent with similar issues like this. I should be glad we moved quickly on this.
Hopefully we can kick and punt like you guys can soon.

It will be interesting to watch this guy over the next few games. Combo kicker/punters are unusual in this league, but a good one is a real asset.

The real test will be how he handles adversity - a clutch field goal missed, a shanked punt at a critical time during the game, or even getting laid out on a play.

I went to the condensed game on Game Pass and watched him. He certainly seems to have talent by the bucket load. If he handles the mental aspect as well as he does the physical he might well be worth the 5th.

John cut his teeth in this league as a special teams coach. It is like Sean being able to find offensive weapons.
Yep best ST coach in the league. If a player gets a endorsement from John Harbough its taken seriously. How we got Lutz. Last pre season game Sean and John were talking and he told Sean about the Kicker we got in camp. We went all in on him a week before the opener
