Popeye's Chicken Sandwich (1 Viewer)

Went to Popeyes for lunch today to try the chicken sandwich. Pulled up, there were 3 cars in front of me. 20 minutes later was at the order screen. Took almost 5 minutes before a woman asked for my order. At least I assumed that's what she asked. Asked for a chicken sandwich and large unsweetened tea. "WHO?" The loud, rude voice responded. I assumed she meant excuse me so I asked politely for a chicken sandwhich and large unsweetened tea. This time I get no response. Politely said hello a couple times and no response. At this point I assumed she was busy since it had been a couple minutes and pulled forward. It's now been 38 minutes and I'm finally at the window. The most rude woman ever pops the window open and asked what I ordered. Told her a chicken sandwhich and unsweetened tea. She then goes off on me for not waiting at the order screen to complete my order. I apologized even though I shouldnt have and asked if I can order. She says yeah. So I order a chicken sandwhich and a large unsweetened tea. She sticks her hand out and apparently I paid for it without being told a total or given a recipe. She gives me the card back and tells me to pull around and they were old bring it out. Now it's been 47 minutes but I'm kind of pot committed at this point. After 15 minutes of waiting I went to Chick-fil-a and got a chicken sandwhich. It was good.

Ughh... Location? So we can all avoid.

Whats with all this "bad service" talk on Popeye's? Yeah they might be slow when they get rushed, but usually means I walk out with extra fries, an extra wing, or a free apple pie without even asking. Plus a free "babeee" to boot.

Interesting...

Interesting...
I just stopped in. Pretty good sandwich. Only took 34 minutes and no rudeness. Got it on video this time. Guess I'll blow Twitter up with it.

Edit: 36 minutes after I started recording which was a good 5 minutes in.

Guess I'm lucky too because my Popeyes near me is just like LAhotsauce described. It's by far the fastest fast food place around, super friendly, and always putting in extra fries or an extra tender or two.

Popeye's in AZ are pretty quick. I admit the first I made an order, s sat down and pulled out my phone to start browsing the internet. How was maybe a minute into scrolling through Twitter when they called my name with my order. I was shocked and started chuckling. The dude behind the counter was wondering what I found to be so funny.

Now, they're still not as fast as Chick-fil-A. Also, I never go through the drive-thru. I always go inside because I find that to be faster and just about any fast food restaurant. I also feel really lazy going through the drive-thru, burning gas and blowing the air conditioning while doing nothing but waiting.

I had the Popeye's sandwich last night. Not bad, not bad at all.

To me, the problem with Popeyes has never been their menu but the inconsistency with the quality of food prep and customer service. Sometimes you'll find a decent location other times it's absolute crap.

Chick-fil-a is the polar opposite of that. Most locations are decent and it just goes up from there. I don't eat at Chick for the food. The food is good but it's the service that keeps me coming back. I think it is genius that Chick is setup so that franchise owners are almost always working at the location they own. IMO that does a lot to insure quality service.

Exactly, the sandwich is good but the food quality has never been their issue.

There are some Popeye's that are fantastic. There are others that are, by far, the worst run restaurants in the country. The customer service is slow, rude and the stores are nasty. It just takes 1-2 really bad customer experiences to lose a customer for life and they have a large number of stores serving some really sheetty experiences in mass.

I'm not a ChickfilA fan either. I just don't get the hype and find their customer service is what drives the business. I find ChickfilA high quality, clean, super fast service but the flavor is just meh and it's salty.

But if I have to choose between the two it's ChikfilA every single time because I don't trust Popeyes not to waste an hour of my time and serve a good tasting meal that is dirty or has spit on my sandwich. If Popeyes could just fix the bottom 20% of stores they would take a huge amount of market share.
