LOL, Florio (Brees arm strength) (1 Viewer)

I think Fiorio has a point. We all know his arm strength is not the same. It makes Drew a different quarterback and certainly our offence does not rely on the long ball as years before.

I don’t see why you get so offended.

Drew is a better quarterback then five years ago, but his arm is not as strong.
Can you provide video evidence to support your claim? It's not a difficult request.

He’s pointing to that one play as an example of deterioration in arm strength. In reality, if anything, it showed how strong that arm still is since he threw it flat-footed on a rope.

I’m not saying his arm is the same as it was in 2009. But using that one play is a poor example. And it’s still plenty strong to win a SB.

I will ask what I've asked before. When is the last time anyone ever saw Drew Brees throw a ball over 40 from the LOS in his entire career? I would venture to say never. I've been following this guy since Purdue & can't ever recall him throwing the ball over 50 yards from where he stood in his career. So why is this becoming a point of contention now?
It's not a knock it's just not quite the same. A little less oomph but enough to still get the job done if he is protected.

At the peak there were a lot more 45 - 50 yards in the air, tight spirals dropped on a dime, and you had those darts for TD he would throw up high to Colston in a tight window from 30-35 yards out of the end zone. Just haven't seen either of those in a while, for whatever the reason.

What i'm saying is it never was that "great" to begin with or else he would have played the UT instead of Purdue. He would have been a 1st round pick instead of a 2nd. He would have never been drafted over for Phillip Rivers after going to the pro bowl & leading the Chargers to the playoffs especially after the Ryan Leaf fiasco. And Nick Saban wouldn't have passed on him for Dante Culpepper with a destroyed knee. The number one reason why he's never been given the credit he deserves as the greatest of all time is because he has never ever had "BIG ARM". And the same people who discounted him then are the same people who are saying he's lost something he never had to begin with.

Do y’all remember when Brees had a big arm...? Yeah, me neither. Heck that’s one of the complaints Joe Horn had about Drew when Drew got here.

He isn’t a big arm qb, he is just accurate AF, and I want to yell that at everyone that says “Drew
Doesn’t have his old arm strength.”

Grainy, but go to about 1:15 mark.

48 yards in the air, tight spiral, in stride.

A) You're gonna have to do better than 120 pixels & 8 minutes. Give me a time in the movie.
B) 48 yards is 2 less than 50 by my ciphering.

No, and I am not interested in spending time searching for something that I think we all can see.

The long ball was a key element of our offence. It is no more and there is a reason for it.

And again, still I think Drew is a better quarterback then five years ago.

I don’t see a reason to get offended for someone stating that Drew’s arm is not as strong as it was.

All true.

But everything is relative. He's compensating in many ways and still "elite"overall across all the dimensions of what an NFL QB needs to be, but just seems to be a little less velocity on the ball than he had at physical peak.

Also why does a qb have to launch the ball downfield to be a great qb. I will take his accuracy any day over a qb with some arm strength to throw 80 yds

Um, Nick Saban didnt pass on him. The dolphins doctors said he would never be the same. I'm sure you can find that on google if you want to take the time. Worked out for us.
