So on Sunday, Titans CB Logan Ryan returned an INT to the end-zone at Cleveland - and he kept running and leapt into the first row of fans. One of them threw his beer into Logan Ryan's face. Ryan didn't like it and has complained about it.

First of all, what's hilarious about that is that the Browns contacted a Cleveland man to inform him that he was banned from the stadium . . . when, in fact, the man hadn't been to a Browns game since 2010! :covri: https://www.clevescene.com/scene-an...ng-beer-on-titans-player-ban-him-from-stadium

But a better question, I think, is whether the Browns should have done anything at all. Clearly you can't have fans throwing things at players - generally speaking. But if an opposing player does a Lambeau Leap into the lap of a fan at his own home stadium, hasn't the player at least taken on some risk that he's gonna get a beer in his face?? It's not going to injure the player - it's just beer.

I think I'm with the fan on this one. Get your INT. Celebrate with your fans. Don't come jumping up here in our house.

Good question.. I guess I didn't read the whole article. I didn't realize he jumped into their stand. At first I was siding with the players because I never want to see fans dumping anything on players. But now after reading that they are both stupid for doing that.

After watching the video...I will take that back. The players were jumping in support of the Titan fan and not mocking the Brown fans. In this case I will side with the players. Regardless I never want to see objects or anything thrown at players. Uncall for.

Throwing beer into someone's face is considered assault and has no place in football. Classless fan should barred from attending games for doing that.

If you wouldn't do it to a little leaguer... Why is okay to do it to a grown adult?

I think it's probably better characterized as a battery.

Nope, it's a malicious attack because he thrown containmented beer into his eyes and mouth.

If he pour it over his back or torso. It could be characterized as battery.

It probably Assault and Battery if you want to be technical.

No hard and fast rule. If it's a Falcons player, dump a keg on him.

If it's at the Falcons stadium, toss all those disrespectful fans out!

It's part of the entertainment value. If you get mad to the point of throwing something at a player, then you really need to stay at home.
Beer is a health concern. We don't know if dude has any diseases and he's throwing it right at the player's eyes.
Really low class in my opinion.

To be assault, he has to intend to cause harm or reasonable fear of harm. It's hard to say that Logan could reasonably fear being harmed by beer.

A battery is the mere intentional contact - it doesn't have the intent requirement.

Either way, both are crimes, as a technical matter.

Fair points for sure. But is the player taunting the home fans by deliberately jumping into the opposing stands?

The player doesn't have to do that. I suspect that many players would say they don't do that - it's disrespectful to come into an opposing stadium and jump all into the fans.

Throwing a beer into someone’s face at a game should cause the fan to be thrown out and banned, whether they do it to a player or another fan.

adding " because we know we likely would get an unfavorable response".

while i agree, where do you draw the line for the player(s)?

At what point does the NFL step in to protect the players since they cant seem to protect themselves?
