He basically said( we are not overreacting). This loss is massive when vying for a first round bye. I know we have a fantastic record at 7-2 but our goal is to finish first in the NFC. For the moment we are 2 games behind SF. They and GB better lose today.
On another note, we should have went after another wr. We basically have thomas and maybe Cook. We stayed complacent and it could prove costly.

Payton's record coming off byes has been superb until now. This was a dreadful performance, and the team looked totally unprepared. We knew we had offensive issues last season when our O line got banged up and not WR other than CGM emerged. Kamara has not been as effective as usual. Most importantly, we have a huge hole at LG, and that is going to hurt us down the stretch. Drew was never a scrambler and especially at this point in his career is not able to escape pressure very well. I am concerned.

He may be right.

But...

This amazing WR would have meant nothing today because the game plan reeked. Couldn’t stop the pass rush in order to deliver the ball to this new WR.

Might have run the ball to slow the rush then take a shot, but tgat wasn’t happening today.

ALL division games are huge! period!

This isn’t the same team of years past. We are perfectly capable of going on the road and beating any team. We have a good defense, good run game, and great QB play. Today we just had a dud game. It happens. Nobody in New England panics when NE drops one to Miami. No reason we should be panicking now. But I been here long enough to know there will be plenty of “season is over” posts

Nobody open Brees tucks it in gets sacked. Looked like the same play being replayed over and over and over....The amazing WR would most definitely have helped ...Was mostly coverage sacks from a defense that had a grand total of 7 on the year...Facts against you on this one not opinions....Gameplan sucked will agree with you there

People another wide receiver wouldn’t have done anything ..... Kamara caught 8 Thomas 12 and Cook 6 Murray 2. Smith needs to just get more involved in the game plan and WE HAVE TO RUN THE BALL MORE THAN 11 times in 60 possessions
Murray 5
Kamara 4
Hill 1
Ginn 1

There were sone coverage sacks but Brees also got rattled eventually and the rush was coming right at him up the middle, which is his kryptonite.

He had Cook up the sideline for a big one and overthrew...

I don’t disagree we could use another option, but it wasn’t why they lost today. Every phase from coaching on down stunk as bad as it has stunk in the Payton era.

Yet after Week Two we prob would have all gladly accepted having 3 losses COMING into this game!

We are still in prime position for the 2nd seed, and possibly the 1st if SF loses tomorrow.

Im not trying to put a band aid on this game...we have a lot of work to do...but we’re not all of a sudden in a insurmountable predicament of getting a bye. Lose next week, and then we can REALLY start to worry.

But the Ravens lost two straight in Sept and they are at 7-2 feeling like the kings of the world. Funny how that works.

It’s a long way to go. This team has earned our trust.

We should taken the coaching changes more seriously. Especially, on defense with Morris.

you can't say in the same breath that another wide receiver wouldn't have done anything and then exclaim that Smith needs to get more involved in the offense.

He’s exactly right.

This wasn’t just one L out of 16. Not when you’re fighting for home field and not when you only get 8 home regular season games AND not when you’re playing four straight in the division.

Right, but that’s not where we were four hours ago.

When Brees got hurt, we were hoping to just find a way to win a few games and potentially sneak out a division title.

Now, we’ve blown a golden opportunity to control our own destiny for a bye and home field.

We need carolina to lose more than green bay. People are so worried about the number one seed you forgetting we have to win the division first. Next week and neither games to the panthers are gimmies. We need green bay to win today. People need to stop acting like we have the division won. If the falcons did this to us the panthers can beat us also.

We have 2 freakin losses. The 9ers have a brutal schedule coming up and we still get to play them head to head. Green Bay will drop a couple. We are still well within range of HFA with 7 games remaining. Calm down. And Epstein didn’t kill himself
