Republicans:

Supreme Court vacancies? "Elections are the will of the people!"

Impeachable offenses? "You can't try to undo elections - the will of the people."

Marijuana? "Drugs are bad, mmm-kay"

I think this is the big hold up. That silent generation gets out and votes. Until GenX and Millennial get better involved it's a waiting game for them to stop voting.

Maybe if they weren't smoking weed all the time, they'd get up and vote
Nice throwaway line to lump MILLIONS into the fake take! If only Alzheimers patients would remember to vote, it's be so much better, right counselor? Every single person I know that uses cannabis, votes(local, state& national). W/a few exceptions NONE are "single issue voters", gainfully employed(or students business owners), unlike the religious hypocrites that ONLY vote for female medical suppression and the unqualified congrressional/judicial nominees that lock step w/their reactionary backward viewpoint!
There has been an historical lack of interest in politics/voting in the young population(likely yours too), LONG before the stupidity of the "war on drugs" was ever conceived.
The largest population segment using cannabis is over 65! Why? Because it works to help the old bones, joints & guts maintain some level of comfort. The largest impediment is ignorant old white folk, big Pharma, the Alcohol industry, religious hypocrites & the toadys in Congress that march to their tune!

Lumping gambling & other "vices" w/Cannabis reform is disengenuous @ best. Gambling(especially the "tax on the mathematically inept"(Lottery) has destroyed more communities than it has helped(w/minor exceptions). Lack off focus/attention is how this country has been divided. The wealthy has convinced the "Middle Class" that the less fortunate & progressive population is the enemy! If the govt ever released the ACTUAL POVERTY LEVEL, most of you here would break down & cry! It hasn't been acurately revised in DECADES!

I forgot about that. Looks like its just going to be Alabama and Utah then. The only states without any kind of gambling.

Aaand the thing both of these states have in common?

Religious zealots controlling the state gov't. Salt Lake is a liberal island in what is probably (competing with Alabama) for the reddest state in the country. But you increasingly see these islands in red states everywhere..Texas, Georgia, even Louisiana..

It's sad to see that a bunch of old, out of touch individuals will be standing between the constituents and the freedom they deserve. Alcoholism and drunk driving claims the lives of much, much more than smoking this plant would. Unfortunately those old zealots still have a lot of staying power in the minds of folks who, because of social stigma, wouldn't be caught dead doing anything (voting) other than what they've always done.

We should never underestimate the power of what is taboo in human social constructs.
