The Hard Truth About Drew (1 Viewer)

to me, imho, this is the most accurate post in this thread. But he can definitely win us another SB. I've said since last year, as long as Brees can throw the 15-20 yard outs, long passes, he's lethal with time to throw, lethal to the point that he can break the spirit of a defense.
As long as the defense can keep playing at a high level I agree if he plays mistake free football and be more of a game manager surely he can win a Super Bowl Trent Dilfer dealing with the Baltimore Ravens also Brad Johnson with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and last but not lease Peyton Manning with the Denver Broncos but it is crazy to me for all these fans of Drew Brees that's in denial about he's still the old Drew Brees of years past

Still somewhat recovering, still wearing a hand “apparatus” in overcast/rainy/humid conditions where the other QB threw ducks all game, and I’m not sure he had a spot to step into either throw. Oh, and he made this exact throw in week one.

Is it what it once was? No. Is it still more than good enough with this roster to win MULTIPLE more rings? Yes. (See Elway & Manning if you need proof of concept)

Can't believe we're 8-2 and we have threads like "the hard truth about Drew."

This is just stupid.
I know all thise Over Two throws, I repeat Two throws. His only poor throws of the game.

I'm not worried because we actually saw Drew "make" that type of throw 3 weeks prior. If given the proper pocket Drew can still step up and make a 15 yard out to the Field side. (Opposite far hash)

He made that exact throw vs Arizona

15 yard out to the Field side. Corner didn't have a chance to make a play on the ball, and is able to allow Ginn to get down and protect himself. Breathe easy folks.

Pretty simple: Drew cannot throw an 18-20 yard dart into a tight window across the field without stepping into the throw.

Why? Because he never could. Not a lot of QBs can.

He can still zip it when the OL gives him time and space to step into his throws. When they play poorly, like they did last weekend, he can't do much outside of dink and dunk.

The arm strength has probably declined a little. But it doesn't appear much weaker than it ever was and it certainly isn't so weak that he hamstrings the offense in any way.

You are comparing brees contract then to quarterbacks that's getting paid now if I'm not mistaking at the time Brees was the first hundred million dollar quarterback

Really

Just wow.

If there was a formula or ratio of how much a player meant to his team compared to his salary, Drew would have one of the best numbers compared to other players.

I feel bad for any person claiming to be a Saints fan that cant apperciate the greatness of the job that Drew has done for this team, fan base, and city.

28/35, 1 MT drop, 2 throwaways, 3 TDs. 34-17 win in which a TD was taken off the board due to a senseless penalty. It's not that I don't see him not flinging it 50 yards downfield, it's that I don't care.

People were riding him last week pretty senselessly too. He actually played well for the most part, but penalties killed us along with a few bad drops. Our speed guy is a 13 year vet unless we send Kamara out wide.

I just don't see a reason to give a damn.
I’m not saying he’s not a good quarterback. He’s one of the most cerebral and competitive qb’s the game has ever seen. I’m beyond grateful that he represents the black and gold.
All I’m saying is that we are not going to beat the top teams in the league dinking and dunking... doesn’t matter how perfectly executed it is. Someone is going to shut it down and force us to push the ball down field. If we can’t do it.... we can’t win.

Then let's just go ahead and start Teddy Bridgewater. How many games did we not score a TD under him again?

I can appreciate everything TB did for us but....

QB A - 67% comp., 196 passing yards, 1.3 TD’s per game

QB B - 75% comp., 325 passing yards, 2 TD’s per game

Which one of these QB’s is more productive?

some of us are expecting more than just a 8 and 2 record some of us are expecting to at least get back to the NFC Championship Game I myself want to see a Superbowl and Brees play or lack of good play in crucial situation is a bit alarming

See these rite here? "........"

They're called "periods". Use them. They won't be mad @ u

So what do you think the solution is?

I mean, we CAN beat the top teams dinking and dunking. But defense and special teams will have to be good to great. Which they are capable of being.
