Offensive Strategy this week? (1 Viewer)

I'll never get used to saying this but we need to run the ball and play good defense. Stop the run and limit the big plays. Take Kittle out of the equation and force Jimmy G to beat you throwing to someone else.

Really need to limit the mistakes on offense. Stay on time and convert on 3rd and short. SP needs to dust off his screen playbook from the PT days. The 49ers have a great pass rush but the screen game can turn their strength into a weakness.

Running the ball is crucial but SP is going to find out early how they plan to guard MT. If they can't guard him then SP is going to relentlessly exploit that. If AK is healthy and has his head in the game he could be the difference. Cook is going to have a lot of room to work but he has to make the catch. SP needs to get him a few balls early to build confidence and keep him engaged.

I don’t know if there are other successful strategies, but the one the Ravens used surely works: keep the ball, run a lot, attack the flats. This game reminded me a lot of how we beat the Ravens themselves last year.

Coach P will have a great game plan. These big games are what he lives for. Now it's up to the players to execute his plan. Everyone's got to play smart, play fast, no dumb penalties, and just do-your-job!!!

I would like to see us come out with our best 11 on offense: 5 OL, Brees, Kamara, CGM, T. Hil, Cook and Murray. Kamara and Hill can either line up in the backfield or split wide, Cook and Hill can both lineup as TEs a or one can split wide. Lots of options and lots of match up problems. Go no huddle and keep the defense from substituting. Won’t. Happen but it sure would be entertaining.

Since we don't have a legit #2 WR, I want to see Kamara, Taysom, and Murray on the field as many plays as possible. These packages where at least one of them is off the field really helps defenses narrow down what plays we could run. Just keep Murray in the backfield and flex Kamara and Taysom to the slot and backfield. We need our best players out there. I know we want to play sound football and not make mistakes, but I think just as importantly, we need to come out with looks and plays that this 49er defense doesn't have any film on. Murray's skillset is just as important as any other piece of the offense. He isn't someone to spell Kamara. Washington is someone to spell Murray.

I hope the rumors of Payton holding things up his sleeve for the playoffs are true. We need them now. This is for the #1 seed. This is the playoffs.

Run the ball, use Taysom in zone read, and get Cook rolling with quick passes. I’m confident our defense can hold off San Fran’s offense and cause a couple of turnovers.

Gonna be a ton of dinking and dunking. Can we get a few shots completed down the field is the question?

Not sure what the run/pass ratio will be.

If Sherman and Tartt aren'tt playing, then for those hoping for heavy doses of Murray and Kamara, you're gonna be sadly disappointed. It will be close to 22/42 run/pass.

I think the Saints defense will dictate the offenses’ game plan. If the Saints defense can control the 9er offense, then I think the Saints will pound the ball.

Run the ball down their throats with Tay-Train, Kamara and Taysom. Then, play-action over the top.

Big thumbs up to a no huddle strategy. I think we are unstoppable in that mode.

short pass completions, moving the chains
long offensive possessions
use Murray for 4 qtrs
defense creating turn overs
catch the ball

The 49ers starting outside CBs (Sherman and Witherspoon) are both bigger more physical CBs. Each guy is 6’3 and should matchup well vs the Saints WRs like CGM and TQS. Ginn has the speed to hurt them, but the Saints don’t really push it downfield too often, and Ginn has been in a rut...
Perhaps the Saints could benefit from installing some packages that include Deonte Harris in the offense, and get the shifty, super quick and fast Harris matched up against the longer/stiffer CBs and Safeties.

The power run game has to be featured... with the Saints lining up and pounding Tay Train and AK41 right up the gut. Included in that though, should be some motion across the formation with Harris, and at least a couple of sprint sweeps to keep the 49ers off balance and honest on the outside.
