Sorry to say that he will be going from being a tiger to being a tiger. (Bengals)
I am glad I don't have to watch horrible lsu offense anymore.
Again it's not about what Belichick "wants" it's about the "smart" thing to do.
I really like Joe Burrow...he looks like he has all of the tools to potentially be a successful NFL QB. But he's not Peyton Manning. He's not someone who I have the utmost confidence that he is a lock to be successful at the next level. His sample size is relatively limited. We don't know how he is going to go through progressions and read defenses at the next level. I suspect that he'll be fine, but it's always tough to know for sure. And if you are going to trade away 3 drafts worth of picks (and yes, the bounty would probably be the biggest in NFL history), then you have to be 100% sure that he's going to be a transcendent talent that can singlehandedly win games for you, because that is what he will have to do with the significant loss of draft capital.
I'm not interested in Fromm or Herbert. I think that they both flop in the NFL and I'm not even considering them before the 2nd-3rd round. I honestly don't know much about Eason, I'll have to take a good look at him. I'm not sure what to think about Hurts yet.
I do know that Tua is a good QB. Truth be told, if he was the current LSU QB, everyone on this forum would want him right now...even in spite of the injury concerns. He is a fantastic young QB that is pinpoint accurate, makes smarts decisions, and throws a beautiful deep ball. I think that he is right up there with Burrow. And though he has injury concerns, those injury concerns are the ONLY reason that the Saints may be in a position to get him. Otherwise, I think he likely goes #1 overall. If he slips outside of the top 10, all of a sudden the Saints could have the ammunition to get their franchise QB without completely crippling their future draft assets.
Totally agree, except to say Burrow is more gritty than Manning and Tua. He's Brady tough and gritty, not afraid to take a hit in exchange for a completed pass. He's smart, uses touch, not ashamed to throw an easy, catchable ball when required, eyes always downfield, has great judgment, the game is not too big for him, can't be intimidated.
I like Tua a lot, but I dread the "too short, too immobile" drone coming from the sports media. If his injury is good, I think he's worth taking a late first - early 2nd on if you're willing to gamble on his health. I don't know if he can fit passes in NFL-tight windows, only see him play 4-5 times. I would say "probably yes".
The talent is unquestionable here.
You missed my edit.
I agree on Tua's arm talent.
I need to catch up on other QB's. There has to be a good one that won't destroy our draft this year and next.
I dont care what the Panthers are offering, I wouldn't help make their team better. If there was a create-a-player for SP's offense it's Burrow and that is factoring in physical talent, football IQ, reaction/decision making speed, coaching, leadership, confidence and grit. And before comments rain in about his arm strength, if there is anything we have learned over the last 14 years is that you don't have to have the strongest arm, you have to know the offense and be accurate.
There is a piece of trade value that everyone seems to forget and that is Teddy. Everyone just assumes we would just let him walk in FA. He's a 27 y/o experienced QB who has earned a starting job in the right situation. The FO can franchise tag him and trade him to a team that needs a starter who might not want to go with a rookie. Colts, Panthers, Chargers, Bucs, Dolphins, Bengals and Bears all come to mind as they either don't have a QB or there are questions surrounding if their current QB is their QB of the future. The Bears gave 2 1sts+ for Mack who disappears in games, would those picks have been better used on a consistent QB?
On the surface it may seem that we don't have what it will take to move up and grab Burrow at #1, but it is not impossible and it may take more than one trade to do it. Some options are trading into the middle of the 1st which a franchise tagged TB would easily have that value. So we could accumulate draft capital and them move up.
Another option is do the Bengals really want to go with a rookie? They have WRs, TEs, RBs and their defense has talent. They lack a QB and offensive line help. TB, 2020 1st and 2021 1st would be enough to move move up to #1. In that scenario, we really only give up the 2021 1st.
If there was ever a Saints team that could withstand trading draft capital to get the QB of the future, it is this current team due to how successful the FO has had over recent years in the draft and UDFA finds.
I dont care what the Panthers are offering, I wouldn't help make their team better.
I didn't know that you had to be born in Louisia
