I think Something is not right with Alvin Kamara . (1 Viewer)

Kamara rushed for over 5 yds a carry vs ATL- he's functional. But opposing teams have tape on him, and they dedicate additional coverage to him. His numbers from his rookie year were unsustainable. AK is a fantastic player, but it was never going to be the sort of 16 game highlight reel his rookie year might have led the naive to believe.
On a related note -the team has played 6 complete games with Brees, and has averaged 27+ points per game (including the debacle that was the first Falcons game). That would place us 5th in scoring league wide. The offense will continue to improve under Brees, imho, and AK will start to post some more impressive numbers.. Perhaps Payton featured Kamara last week vs ATL in part because Kamara was such a local hero there, perhaps because his running style helped mask the deficiencies of the makeshift left side of the O-line. Either way, I can't see Payton doing that without Kamara being basically healthy.

I have watch the last few games again to see if I was seeing the whole picture when it comes to our running game and then it hit me. It’s right there Alvin Kamara seem to be save himself he’s running out of bounds when he could get an few more yards he’s not breaking the single man tackles he did before his injury . Sometimes he look bored and not in the game that onside kick was really good but he Pulled an Cam on that one .That’s why Sean moved him .We need the old Kamara but I think his agent is tell him to play it safe maybe we should pay the man now cause we need him to step it up if we going to win the SB. So should we pay him now and get it out the way?

He is not eligible for a new deal until after next year.

I truly believe that high ankle sprain or knee injury isn't 100% and that is why Kamara doesn't look like himself yet. He may even have been told by CSP to not take as many chances if it looks like we are winning the game. It's even possible that Alvin is being used more as a decoy right now in order to allow him to heal further. That would explain the running out of bounds and play hesitations we have seen. It would also explain his demeanor, disliking (disappointed) that he is being limited on the field. I'm expecting (at least hoping) that he will get the word to go for it with the 9ers if this extra rest period brings him closer to 100%. Then we will see Alvin acting like Alvin again! This is jmho and I could be wrong, but it explains a lot in my mind.
Then they need to use Murray more...

Please say it loud enough so the people in the back can hear you.

Amd hes not thinking of Mark as a linebacker is quickly approaching him.

Hes hurt. And hasnt been a big part of the gameplan as Payton is limiting his exposure to injury as we go into the home stretch.

Hes a different dude. Yall all need to chill with this.

If Kamara really has the problems you suggest, do we even want to pay him top money? Could it be injuries to him and/or Line, Peat, and Armstead?

I'll trust Payton. If he knows why Kamara has fallen off and excuses him, he will be paid well at contract time. If there's no alibi, it could cause a dust-up come training camp.

I think he's playing hurt, or at least not 100%. he's had none of the explosive scores this year he had in the past two years, and its because of any lack of talent or drive.

High ankle sprains can linger. Be glad he’s been able to get back on the field and still play pretty well.

Two things are wrong and and only two things:

1. He is not 100% healthy and therefore unable to play HIS game and

2. He is P'Oed he is not able to contribute to this team in the manner he is accustom to and obviously wants to very badly.

That's it, trying to "conspiracy theory" anything else out of your own opinion is silly and a waste of energy, especially to those who have to hear it and roll their eyes at it...

CBA will not allow you to extend a rookie before his 3rd season in the league is completed..

Simply put, it's not money, he knows we can't pay him, and that when we can we will just like we did MT13

No one would be the same after a knee tweak and a high ankle sprain not too long ago. I hope Kamara has a great game so people can stop with this nonsense.

I agree it has to be the injures.

Look at his performance in the Seattle game. That was healthy Kamara doing healthy Kamara things.

Now, it’s possible the injuries are impacting his mental well-being. Maybe he’s just bummed that he’s not in top performance shape due to injuries.

I just saw the Seahawks give 20+ touches to Chris Carson and 20 touches to Rashaad Penny in the same game.

Payton has to figure a way to get this running game going. We have two very good backs that both deserve a lot of plays.

I swear it fells like Payton is chasing records with Brees back under the helm.
