Star Wars 9 rise of sky walker [Spoilers] (1 Viewer)

Myself and the Fam saw it yesterday. We were entertained and enjoyed it. I tried very hard not to go into the theater with expectations that the story would, or should, go a certain way. I get some of the criticism that it jumped around maybe too much and that it likely should have been longer or even two movies to help with the story. But honestly, I think I liked this movie a lot. Another viewing may be in order. I have spoken.

Disclaimer: I liked The Force Awakens. I did not really hate The Last Jedi, but it obviously had some story issues. I am also one of the few people on earth that really liked Solo.

As someone who is new to Star Wars, I’ve only seen Episodes 1-6 the weekend before The Force Awakens when my friends forced me to watch it.
But I think Disney has plans to turn this into their Star Trek franchise. Before Disney, SW only had the movies and The Clone Wars TV show. To many SW was strictly cinematic compared to Star Trek’s numerous TV shows. You can see them going into that direction with The Mandalorian and the planned Obi Wan series. Star Wars is gonna be different in the next few years. There is a difference between cinematic and serialized storytelling.
Personally, I think the reason why every SW trilogy gets hate except the original is because there is so few SW content out compared to other franchises. The movies get overanalyzed to death.
I think once Disney starts after the Sequel Trilogy, it’ll be looked at in a better light than it is now at its release.
And if Disney’s SW shows are like The Mandalorian, the franchise will be fine.
to the legacy, i think we'll look back on the sequel trilogy as something that needed a needle threading that was very unlikely to be broadly successful
Rogue One showed that this new team can tell a great story (maybe the best movie of the bunch) - lots of lore, a little bit of legacy
contrast to Solo - lots of legacy, little bit of lore
The Mandalorian is clearly applying the lessons learned from Rogue One

i have to push back on the "so few SW content" - the MCU is probably the only other 'story/myth' that has more content than SW
it looks like The Clone Wars (cartoon) is going to be the bedrock of the universe moving forward and that alone probably has 10x the content of the Skywalker movies - and that doesn't even account for KOTOR which is probably going to come into play at some point

and getting back to Marvel, i think Star Wars is going to do the inverse of what Marvel was doing - Marvel leaned on the movies to guide everything
Star Wars is going to lean on Disney+ and the movies will be an outgrowth of that

I was mainly referring to the time between the Original Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy. From the early 80s to 1999 when The Phantom Menace came out.
I can’t comment on The Clone Wars since I just started the show since I got Disney Plus.
I think both Marvel and Star Wars are gonna rely heavily on Disney Plus now.

John Williams is a National Treasure (has been for decades).

and I guess we can open it up to spoilers now, eh?

Here's a mini one. I liked the quick John Williams cameo.

So I watched Rogue One tonight.

Talking to my BIL over Christmas and he's sort of into SW, so I told him I never saw anything after E3. He said, well, just watch Rogue One, it's cool how it connects the story right up to where New Hope starts - plus you get right back into the main storyline. Made sense.

Wife and kids out of town tonight, I watched it. I enjoyed it. Will watch another one soon. Force Awakens I guess.

You're like my friend who used to work in the Video rental store with me. She never watched Spaceballs. we were incredulous. Then she said, well, I haven't watched it, because I've never seen Star Wars. We were floored.

Luckily, it was when they were re-released in the theaters, so we made it our mission to make her go see them. She loved them.

(ok, you're not that bad)

Yeah I mean, I watched six of them. Now seven.

I’m also highly Spaceballs fluent. I even own a Spaceballs flamethrower.

I really enjoyed TFA. You may want to stop there though.

Thinking about it today, I really enjoyed Rogue One. I kind of want to watch 4, 5, and 6 now.

I think one of my favorite parts was at the end when you're like "Damn! Darth Vader just took on 30 dudes with a lightsaber. What a bad arse.!"
