I get what you're saying, but this could affect base stealing, especially for a right handed pitcher who has their back towards 1st base during his delivery. It could remove the art of deception from the runner on 1st if the pitcher could be told about what's going on at 1st base. I'm not saying it can't be done, it needs to be thoroughly thought out.
 
The difference is the Astros actually did this. MLB didn't make up a charge in an attempt to lessen the damage of a pending lawsuit like the NFL did.
As an Astros fan, I am saddened by this, but even more that the team did it all in the first place. And bad enough that they were studying their signs, but then the whole alerting the batter on individual pitches by banging out audio signals among the crowd noise. Just bush league terrible.

Bruh! It's sad that this has to even be pointed out. It should be obvious at this point, and I am a little disappointed that there is even a thread comparing the two.

As for implying the punishment is harsh because "everyone does it," that's not good enough. First, prove that everyone is doing it. Secondly, when we prove everyone is/was doing it, then punish them as well. It's not enough to hold off punishment against one team because we speculate everyone is doing it.
 
Well if you aren’t cheating then you aren’t trying. Honestly for some odd reason this doesn’t upset me nearly as much as Bountygate did With the Saints.

If steroids didn’t put MLB out of business this scandal won’t either. And other teams were doing it. Cora took this little operation to Boston with him

Cora out as Red Sox manager following scandals

The Red Sox said that given the findings of the Astros' investigation, "we collectively decided that it would not be possible for Alex to effectively lead the club going forward."

After reading the Astros Report, I expect Alex Cora will be banned from the dugout once MLB conclude its investigation into his Sox run.
 
If you haven't read the full report from Manfred, I recommend reading it. He gave them the highest amount in a fine he was allowed to. It seems like he didn't punish the players because it would have been nearly all of them to some degree, but there was no way in telling who benefited more than the other. As for the GM and Manager, he hammered them, but probably should've have hammered them more for what the knowingly allowed to go on. Cora should be banned for life. Pete Rose gambled on games that he played in, but that pales in comparison to what this team did. It wasn't a loophole that they exploited, it was blatant cheating and knowing exactly what they were doing and trying to come up with better and more secret ways of doing it.

How many opposing pitcher's careers were ruined by this cheating? Yu Darvis was unbelievable that year, and his career got tarnished by this cheating.

Players from the yankees and dodgers may have missed out on MAJOR paydays if they would have won the 2017 world series, just like rendon just did with the nationals.

this is damn shame. my support of the current astros players is 100% over. I loved those guys, they were fun to watch, but I am done

Agreed, I am not in the camp of just handing the Dodgers the 2017 WS but I am in the camp of erasing the win of Houston's WS. Remove all banners and any memorabilia at the ballpark. Take WS rings away. If Reggie had to lose his Heisman because an agent bought his parents a house, this should happen as well.
