I was hoping for a new USS America or a USS United States but I can't argue with this decision. He was a true WWII hero and deserves to be honored as such. If I was still in the Navy I would have been honored to be assigned to this command.

I think it's cool as hell...

I didn't know that he died in '43 in the Gilbert Islands when his ship was hit by Torpedo and sank.

Honestly, whenever I see Tora, Tora, Tora and they show him at the machine gun... I had always imagined that he survived the war and went on to old age.

Was he the guy Cuba Gooding Jr played in (the greatest WW2 movie ever) Pearl Harbor? I think that I speak for everyone when I say Ben Affleck was born to play that role, and quite honestly, every night when I go to bed I thank the man above for Michael Bay blessing us with that masterpiece that makes the Mona Lisa look like a kindergartner’s macaroni art of an elephant.

How about we don't build aircraft carriers? Seems like a tool of aggression more than a tool of defense.

I’m not an expert, but it seems to me that stationary land-based bases are too easy to take out?

better to wage the way over there, then here at home.

however carriers are also more often used to project the national policy and agenda, by means of the threat and actual aggressive action.
