Underhill digging at Swimmer and CP on Twitter (1 Viewer)

The average Swimmer fan reads his threads 1 hour a day. Reason most given: I want to see what he says next.

I don't really get the need to know insider information or be the guy with insider information... however, it s fun to speculate.

I too read @Swimmer 's threads, simply because it is fun to speculate, and appreciate his commitment too.

As for this particular situation, taking everything at face value, the one thing I'll say is, Underhill may be a professional reporter, but he's not one of them. Coach Pete is.

Then you have Nick Underhill call him out on Twitter. You can’t talk negative about Nick...even though the guy isn’t even on the Saints. He’s among the golden gods on this forum who can criticize but not be criticized.
The truth is Nick Underhill was the best Saints writer by far. Call him a reporter or journalist or whatever but he has never broken any Saints news. He is not from Louisiana.

I guarantee there are posters here that have more inside ties to the Saints organization than Underhill could dream of. It's far more likely that what this ghost trainer tells Swimmer is the truth than what Nick Underhill claims.

Anybody can write an article after a game or after attending a practice but Underhill has to play by NFL rules so don't ever expect him to give any breaking news on anything. Everything Swimmer posted by the coach's reply to Underhill, is the truth. Nothing is done on draft day. It's done way in advance. Nick must think people are fools.

In this addition of Saints fluff, Nick provides a wonderful article of information you can gather by doing a quick google search. It’s one of many articles he writes for a long list of possible Saints draft candidates that he has ready for when the moment comes. He’s not a lazy writer, for which I give him credit. But he’s never presented inside information. One can surely argue that it’s because he could lose his job if he did so...which is why anonymous insiders are valued on this forum.

Well isn't it impressive that he not only had an article ready but he had a film study ready as well. And I am sure that he had 20 other articles written for any other first-round pick (not really). He was the only reporter to report on injuries when others didn't. He not only presented the information he knew. He did so when others wouldn't.

Look at the activity that each Underhill article gains. There is no discussion, there is rarely information you didn’t already know if you kept up with the football world, and it's always with a pro-Saint bias. It was an article written for either Saints fans desperate for ANY news and your grandma who casually watches the game.

Now you are just being silly. You belittling Underhill as a writer just makes you look foolish. Underhill hasn't written a Saints article since he left the Advocate. But most of his articles when covering the Saints were top-notch and often contained info other reporters did not have.

Now to current day, while Underhill is thinking about his next optimistic Patriots fluff piece, Swimmer has create a thread that has removed us from the depths of despair to well over a thousands posts of discussion and optimism. That’s something that Underhill never did. And yet he’s here, angry, because a non-columnist would be this popular and frustrated that Swimmer and Coach Pete, nobodies in journalism, would tarnish the profession he loves so very dearly.

Not sure what you were saying in that last paragraph but Underhill never wrote fluff pieces. That's why he was so popular with knowledgeable Saints fans.

By the way, hi Dan...I hope you are well. Am I being harsh? Sure. But Underhill started this by calling people out on Twitter.

Thank you sammy. I am copimg as best as I can.

Underhill did not start this, Swimmer did, and he was called out on twitter before Nick posted anything.

I've been thinking about getting a source. I don't go to a gym or have a lawn guy though. I need to come up with some guy that has a cool profession or name though to be my source. The guy that sells me beer is named Earl......Beer guy Earl doesn't really have a ring to it.
Janitor is my source.

I for one did not believe everything Swimmer said to be true. However I came to enjoy every post and actually brought me back to the board more often seeking update. The fact Underhill even cares what’s being written on the forum gives Swimmer more validity IMO. Closing a thread turns me off and rubs me the wrong way. I understand not attacking and following rules but I did not see anything wrong in there other than Underhill being soft and feeling like his job was threatened.

He needs to stay in his lane. He is no longer a beat writer for the Saints. Disregard his Twitter.

I didn’t particularly care for Underhill’s content. It’s nothing personal, I just guess that I don’t particularly care for Sports journalism as a whole. I completely understand that his affiliation with the Saints put significant restraints on his content. He couldn’t post anything thing that could be interpreted as negative. Some fans are content with reading nothing but positive stories about their favorite team. I’m not. I don’t always want to be told “it’s not bad as it looks” when my eyes tell me differently. I want an honest objective evaluation of our team...and that simply can’t be gained by someone affiliated with the Saints.

But I am miffed that Underhill got the Swimmer thread shut down. What do we have left now? We can talk about our failed season...depressing. We can talk about our team in flux with an aging QB who is unsigned...depressing. We can talk about the Saints involvement in a child molestation case...depressing. We can talk about Kamara, the Saints best player entering the season, falling off the cliff and be subject of trade rumors...depressing. There is no engaging optimistic dialogue left. For that I thank Nick Underhill.

Wait nick had thread shutdown? That now makes me believe coach Pete is on the something

If Nick is even partially responsible for the thread getting whacked, his credibility is in the toilet and the ghost coach is 2000 % correct. Nick needs to stick to Pats articles and news. He is no longer affiliated with anything Saints other than a feather in his hat for his resume.

His articles were well written but they didn't provide anything that fans didn't already know.

I rather read what CP has to say than another Underhill article.

We should have a poll on whether we want to see Swimmer post Pete news, or Underhill tweets on this board. I'm pretty sure Nicks tweets would be like a fart in the wind.

I don’t think anyone was really attacking underhill , I just think people were taking up for coach Pete.. you can’t close a thread because of that something is fishy and it could be because the info was somewhat true for Pete and they don’t want the info to keep spreading ...
