Underhill digging at Swimmer and CP on Twitter (1 Viewer)

I don’t think anyone was really attacking underhill , I just think people were taking up for coach Pete.. you can’t close a thread because of that something is fishy and it could be because the info was somewhat true for Pete and they don’t want the info to keep spreading ...
Exactly my point being that if he is partially responsible then all his credibility is in the toilet. Is this forum affiliated with the NFL? If it isn't then no thread should get whacked because of the truth. If he and/or the NFL doesn't want the truth out then screw them and his name should never be mentioned here again. Boycott every saints article he has ever written about this team. That's garbage.

Well...can you at least explain why the other thread was frozen so that future threads don’t have the same fate. Was it as simple as you and Nick didn’t like it?

Why was the thread that was in part titled "Burrow News" and provided periodic updates on said news shut down???

Perhaps because SR would like to continue to be a place where Saints fans can come for real news. And stop jumping on Underhill for doing things the correct way. Swimmer has a guy that he likes to talk with about the Saints. That guy had a relationship with the school of a player the Saints were highly interested in....this one time. The rumors, hearsay, or speculations he has shouldn't be billed as Saints news. Swimmer can post it all he wants but calling it news and putting it in bold capitalized font is a purposely misleading attention grab. There's no need for all the theatrics if he's innocently just trying to post what he heard.

Underhill, without fanfare or bold headlines, simply responded to "the news" he kept being asked about. He didn't seek out to discredit some guy. He was repeatedly asked to speak about it and did so in as nice a way as you could given the circumstance.

I get it. Most Saints fans are LSU fans and we want to believe this narrative. That doesnt make it news. It's still hearsay and rumor...and that's FINE. If Swimmer presents his conversations with his guy in the correct light, I don't think this confusion happens.

god I wish we won the Super Bowl. This board using Coach Pete as a coping mechanism will be looked at quite comically years from now I think. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks a lot, Roger.

I didn’t particularly care for Underhill’s content. It’s nothing personal, I just guess that I don’t particularly care for Sports journalism as a whole. I completely understand that his affiliation with the Saints put significant restraints on his content. He couldn’t post anything thing that could be interpreted as negative. Some fans are content with reading nothing but positive stories about their favorite team. I’m not. I don’t always want to be told “it’s not bad as it looks” when my eyes tell me differently. I want an honest objective evaluation of our team...and that simply can’t be gained by someone affiliated with the Saints.

But I am miffed that Underhill got the Swimmer thread shut down. What do we have left now? We can talk about our failed season...depressing. We can talk about our team in flux with an aging QB who is unsigned...depressing. We can talk about the Saints involvement in a child molestation case...depressing. We can talk about Kamara, the Saints best player entering the season, falling off the cliff and be subject of trade rumors...depressing. There is no engaging optimistic dialogue left. For that I thank Nick Underhill.

The mods here are generally pretty good guys and I assume we'll get an explanation for it at some point. There's got to be something more to it than what meets the eye. I can't imagine a 1,200 post thread that, even if you think Swimmer/Pete are full of it, had all sorts of good football content was shut down purely because it made a Patriots internet journalist with 28k followers uncomfortable. That'd be a lot of pull for a guy with 1/3 the followers that Pepe the King Prawn has.

I think we should wait to hear the explanation before just assuming it was purely an Underhill thing.

Just want to know why was the other thread discontinue? It was a little over the top with crazy posts and speculation...yes but not toxic. I am hoping it is not because of "outside influence" now.

Or didn’t want it to spread
This is a forum. All opinions, rumors, news whether fake or real, should not be removed. If the mods are going to whack threads, based on rumors that probably have merit, due to a former Saints scribbler, then what's the point of even having this site?

It might not just be Underhill though. I remember a poster taking photos at a game and posting them here, and the NFL put a stop to that real quick. But inside information even if just rumors should be allowed here without some Boston pen pusher having any say so about it.

No offense but get real. This is a forum. It’s not a news site. It was taken down because certain people with the power to do it...didn’t like it
Forum rules weren’t broken. SSF simply is saying, we don’t care about certain people opinions...only others.

Because they didnt like it? Those same mods let it get to 70+ pages. You get real. In the past, undocumentable sources have always been tagged as rumor or speculation. They let the thread go on unchanged and I really think they did it because they have a soft spot for Swimmer not because they have it out for him.

Shock Posts...:

Shock posts, troll posts, or posts with misleading thread titles are not allowed.

The thread title is in fact misleading.

Along the way, the thread started to be presented more and more like the truth, as real news. As much as we want to believe it, it can't be called that. It's not the truth. It's not news.

I disagree if fake news is allowed to persist, SR no longer becomes the best source for reliable Saints news and information. Hearsay, rumors and speculation are awesome. They are great for discussion but they should be called what they are.

I am not going to speculate or say it is Underhill fault. I just want to know why. I have seen weird and over the top thread. It was always up to people on the forum to draw their own conclusion. I am a little surprise that someone that write for another team would even involve himself with an "average" fan speculations. I really haven't seen any local new people here mentioned anything regarding us trading or interested in Burrow. So why does it matter to Underhill if it does. It is all speculation. What Underhill post was about the Davenport trade and not the Burrow. So how does that thread related?

I disagree with you. All the news posted here comes from articles written by others. It's not breaking news, it's just a place to find it easier. Every member here is capable of using Google to find any news they need. This board wasn't started for Saints news, it was started for a discussion on Saints football. Don't make it into something it isn't.

Fake news or not it is up to people on how they want to perceive it. It is a forum and people have their own opinions on whatever. It is not a news site. We just post twitters, rumors and whatever. If this site becomes regulated and censor because of outside influences, it will be more concerning than what Swimmer or Coach Pete have to say. You will see people get turn off and not be part of it anymore.
