Underhill digging at Swimmer and CP on Twitter (1 Viewer)

I disagree if fake news is allowed to persist, SR no longer becomes the best source for reliable Saints news and information. Hearsay, rumors and speculation are awesome. They are great for discussion but they should be called what they are.
NO ONE SAID THE TRADE WAS FACT!

Yeah you could. But you dont. You go to SR because all the news articles (real news) will be hear so you dont have to do the guess work. That's how you found this place. That's why you're here. The community just makes it better.

you are speaking for a tiny minority. The significant majority is here for the forum.

I think the mods actually showed a lot of restraint on that thread. From the very beginning they showed restraint. That thread was going nowhere and things had gotten way too personal. People were being called liars, crazy, mentally ill, etc. This isn't the place for that and that's why I love this place. Garbage like that might be the norm on Tiger Droppings or some other fan site, but not here. I've been here for years and the mods have been pretty consistent.

That's not true at all. They will just dismiss anything posted by them in the future.

If people get the impression that the inmates are running the asylum, they will stop going...or whatever.

You're using personal anecdotal reasoning to hold up your argument. However, the difference between SR and the failed or low traffic Saints sites is not the depth of forums for rumors, speculation and "insider info". Its the lack of reliable information.

guys, it’s Saturday. Go out and have some fun. Swimmer is humbly bragging about having a wild rendezvous all weekend with his (hopefully) new fiancé and y’all are spending Saturday morning getting worked up defending his honor. :hihi:

Go enjoy the weather or watch the Senior Bowl or something.:ROFLMAO:

They let it go for 70 pages...until Underhill piped up.

Speculation has never been an issue here. At one point there was a poster in the early 2000s who claimed he had a computer that could accurately predict what every single team would do in the draft, ergo he could tell us exactly who the Saints were going to end up with. This poster lasted for multiple years. Wild speculation and crazy threads are part of what makes this site what it is. It's fun.

I think most people on this board are intelligent enough to understand that a poster who is citing a source that's the trainer at his gym is not presenting said information as pure fact. I also am pretty confident Swimmer would be fine with labeling his thread "rumor" or "speculation". He has always responded positively to people who are skeptical, as long as they're not personally attacking him. The only time he gets confrontational typically is when he's personally attacked.

Like I said, I don't think it's Underhill. Perhaps the mods felt that it was getting too personal and shut it down for that reason. Who knows. We should probably withhold judgement until we get a more in-depth explanation.

I know your not supposed to call out Mods in here but I sure as heck wish someone could provide a public explanation on this!?

it seems people are upset because a couple posters don’t like underhill. Which generally wasn’t what the thread was about. If the issue is that, deal with those posters, but to over reach and shut down a whole threat, a threat that 99% of posters were having an a AWESOME time using and taking, having fun. Well I dunno. Seems to me there is something Afoot and frankly I think with no explanation, Kill The Credibility Of This Site!

the more I sit here the more it makes me believe that someone just didn’t like Swimmer! Some people are allowed to run roughshod here and I guess some aren’t. Wow. Swimmer was a great poster here. this is a good way to lose a ton of members. Good positive members too...

That thread has people laughing at the “break down” of Saints fans on social media and other forums.

The vigor that people have defending Coach Pete/Swimmer and disputing him was (is) getting comical and when SR is becoming a laughing stock to other outside mediums...I’m personally glad they closed the thread.

Like I said, I wish we made it or won the super bowl these last few years lol. The sensationalism seems to be getting crazier with every postseason heartbreak on here.

You really shouldn't call out the mods. He doesnt owe us anything.

The only time he gets confrontational typically is when he's personally attacked, IE getting called a "sad old man", a post which is still up.

so if it’s getting too personal, give those people warnings, speak with them directly on it. We aren’t talking a little 30 post thread. The thread had like 1200 replies. I would say up to 95% of participants in that thread were having fun, not being mean and not attacking anyone.

swimmer was being attacked. He defended himself, because the mods let certain things go and others not. Then underhill comes in. We all have a good laugh. Some people treat the guy like god, people don’t like that so naturally they go out of their way to question his skill. Whatever, that’s something that can be handled privately!

Underhill came in and hijacked a Burrow rumour threat with the Davenport stuff, of which he had no business doing. It’s an internal forum discussion! We are allowed to discuss things here I thought.

To shut down the whole thread sends a very bad message. Anyone with common sense knows it’s a rumour thread, knows it’s all with a grain of salt. But now it seems that the ignorant people, that don’t comprehend that, they got all upset, who started making the thread about stuff it wasn’t, well it seems they were able to get it shut down.
Meanwhile everyone else on there is left to ask what the heck happened.

it sure is a shame. And a bad look. We aren’t the damn NFL forums here. I’m quite uneasy with how this whole thing went down it just screams like an overreaction without logical moves.

Someone’s got gang green in there leg, hmmm no let’s not chop off the leg let’s the kill the guy lol that’s essentially what happened to that thread. Which is the best thread I’ve ever read here frankly. Majorly entertaining

my grandmother with dementia used to tell me crazy stuff all the time. I was smart enough to realize what was true and what was not. But I didn’t have her whacked because she continually gave me false information. I actually enjoyed her company and her stories. I find it insulting that a thread may have been stopped because someone was spreading “fake news”. Let people believe what they want, or provide an explanation on why action was taken to stop the thread.

it’s dangerous to silence people just because you don’t agree with what they are saying. Also, I do t frequent the site because of “news”. I come to enjoy the opinions of other fans of the team I love

No.

The SSF is fans' forum, not a news organization. Even if someone starts a thread with "NEWS!!!" in the title, I know that poster is not Foxsports or ESPN (and it's not like I trust them either or care about what they have to say when it goes to rumors and speculation.)They are just a person who heard this and that, or even made it up. And some even have real information.

And this thread - title, OP and all - was created to point out exactly this, to further publicize the making fun of Swimmer and CP. My personal concern is not that the mass thread was locked, but this thread was created as essentially a frontage road to the main highway, and now all it’s doing is diverting traffic due to all lanes being blocked.

Literally the last few pages here are people arguing about why the thread was closed.
