Much more talented than Grayson. I never understood that pick...average arm, just a mediocre prospect. There’s lots to like about Loves game...but certainly there’s risk he never develops and he'll likely be a 1st rounder.

I think Herbert is more athletic, so he gets the slight edge. But it’s close. I think they’re both late 1st round QBs, but those types of QBs often go higher than they should.

Good god, can we please quit with the hype of PROSPECTS, from them performing in touch football wear? Have we not seen enough of these evaluations ?, from even our own local homers, Hebert, Garic and Deuce, from Saints training camp touch football practices? PLEASE stop!

We have heard and seen videos of players countless times, that looked like they were ready to be inducted into the NFL HOF, from touch football practices, only then to be never head from or seen again. Show me what a player does in LIVE action, then I will be sold. Taysom Hill; he may not show like a QB in flag football practice, but when it is REAL football, let’s see what happens.

I always say we need to address the quarterback situation but if those two are the better ones out there, then I will have second thoughts about picking a quarterback this year.

This is pretty much what you’re looking at if you don’t have access to a top 5 pick. That’s not to say that either of them won’t be good...just a little more risk.

Gordon looked pretty solid in the Senior Bowl. Minshew came from the same system and looks like he has NFL potential. Not a bad arm. Ca go through progressions. I don’t love his footwork in the pocket and likes to throw from unorthodox positions (not unlike Minshew).

Meh. I’d rather draft Solomon Kindley with #24 n trade for a guy like Josh Rosen or Nick Mullens. But he is somewhat intriguing

I see he’s supposed to be mobile but I found a 5.1 when I checked his 40 time. Am I missing sumthin?

I have started to watch his tape from 2018 and will work through 2019. There are a lot of things I see and more importantly there are a lot of things I think Sean will like about him.

Like the LSU game. I feel like i learn more about a quarterback in their worst games than their best ones.

I care about him. I think that if given time to develop his mechanics to make up for his lack of arm strength, he could be really good.

Was at senior bowl and I did not see anything special from Love. I guess he is raw and needs to he coached up but i would definitely not reach on him!

I've been following Gordon as well. I think Minshew's success in Jacksonville from a Mike Leach system helps a guy like Gordon coming from the same system. If we address other needs like WR and OL in the first, Gordon could be an option later in the draft which isn't a bad thing.

The college football enigma that is Jordan Love has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. A relative unknown before 2018, Love has skyrocketed up the quarterback draft boards in the weeks since his draft announcement. While 2019 might have been a tough year for Love and the Utah State Aggies, Love has put enough on film the past two seasons to make football insiders excited at the prospect of Love entering the NFL.

The way it was explained to me was that Love looked a lot like Patrick Mahomes coming out of college. A player from a medium-sized football program, with obvious talent, who could throw the ball vertically down the field like an elite quarterback, with great accuracy, but who had less than ideal technique.

Nobody wants to admit they were one of the many people who slept on Mahomes coming out into the 2017 draft. Now people are falling over themselves to label Love as the next messiah for one of the NFL’s quarterback-needy teams.

But is all this hype legit? Does Love really have what it takes to be an elite quarterback in the NFL? What was so special about his 2018 season? What happened in 2019? If he was so great, why didn’t his skills carry into the next year? How did he end up at Utah State to begin with? Could Love really play at the same level as Mahomes or is he more likely to play like Jameis Winston: a high-flying vertical passing quarterback, with fatal flaws in his ability to read coverages?

Do not want. He is very athletically gifted, but doesn’t have the intangibles. He makes poor decisions, and also very inaccurate at times. Way too many turnovers

Here's a nice Breakdown of Jordan Love, guy gives an unbiased take on both some of his positive traits; and negatives.



He's definitely a player I'm going to study more as this draft process goes along. Especially since the Saints have been linked with his name on Draft sites, and various Mock draft type formats.

Pros: Has the desired size, and mobility to extend plays with his feet and make off-platform throws on the run. Can throw from a variety of arm angles, has an impressive arm to fit throws into tight windows. Can make far side of the field throws on deep outs, and back shoulder plays. Displays good accuracy on the intermediate, and short area throws.

Negatives: At times locks into his first read, and stares down some pre-determined pre-snap match ups. Guiding Defenders to the ball. Can get inconsistent with his mechanics, at times relies on his arm on certain throws which let the ball float away from him without proper weight transfer.


So my take is that he's a supremely talented QB prospect who has all the physical traits to develop. The main problem was his decision making, especially in 2019 as he made a lot of 'situational' mistakes like throwing an Interception deep into his own territory when his team had a lead; or locking onto first reads.

He goes stretches where he's clean with his footwork in his drops, and delivery especially improving his touch on deeper throws. (at first you would think he's more of a 'Drive' throw QB) but he shows good touch and accuracy in intermediate windows as well... but then he'll have moments where he loses his Base, and weight transfer doesn't set his feet to his target instead keeping them parallel with the line of scrimmage and he'll float an easy Interception like that one to the Corner of the end zone against Wake Forest.

I think NFL teams will believe they can clean up the inconsistencies in Loves' Decision making, and mechanics with Proper Coaching; and there's good reason with a prospect as physically gifted as Love. I know a lot of guys here would be mad if the Saints took him... I wouldn't mind the pick if he made it to #24. However I don't think he makes it that far.. I think a team like Indy, or even Tampa (he fits Arians' vertical, downfield system well) will take him in the #11-15 range. I wouldn't even rule out the Vegas Raiders taking him.. rumors have it Gruden believes Carr isn't a fit for his system, and would like a better fit for his Offense.

The thing with Gordon is whether he's a franchise guy or just another Gardner Menshew, who despite all the fun and hype, still looks more like he's gonna end up a backup than a perennial starter.

What Gordon has going for him is that he's got better size than Menshew.
