Does anyone have a real injury update and whether or not these guys will come back full force?

Also, who pass rusher do you see the Saints picking up for depth? I wouldn't mind bringing back Alex Okafor.

I don't foresee any real injury updates until Payton has to give an injury report before the games when next season starts.

I got an update from Coach Pete on Davenport about 2-weeks ago. He is progressing a little ahead of schedule. They still don't know if his ability to push off that foot will be as explosive as before the 2 injuries to the same foot. However, Pete said they are more hopeful now than right after the accident.

Gotta sign a mid tier DE FA this season. Davenport's lack of durability has hurt us two seasons in a row. If we can platoon him with a solid vet maybe we can get him to the post season. Starting to get a little worried about Rankins durability as well. We spent a lot of draft capital on those two key defensive pass rushers only to have them sidelined for significate snaps late in the season.

What bad luck with our defensive picks. Anzalone, Rankins and Davenport all have spent too much time on IR.

Unfortunately, I don't see Kiko on the roster at the beginning of the season especially with the seriousness of his injury. I say he's gone and maybe you sign him later in the season if he's healthy?

Kiko was an ACL. I think I remember hearing that he could miss part of next season. He has a large cap hit and he's not a crucial piece of our defense, so I'm thinking released with maybe an injury settlement. Saints could save $7,850,000 by letting him go with only $850k in dead money.

Davenport is a Linsfrac foot injury. 8 months is on the short side how long he'll be out. That would have him back or nearly back by the start of the season. 10 months on the long side has him missing about half the season, similar to Sheldon Rankins this past season. Davenport will be going into the 3rd year on his rookie deal, so he's still dirt cheap. Only sad that we're losing so much of his cheap years with him being out with injury.

Rankins has an ankle injury. The reports on this have been murky at best, but unless there's some seriousness that I haven't heard about, I'd think he could be back by OTA's. That's just speculation. If there's something broken in that ankle or high grade tendon damage, then I guess it could be training camp or start of the season for him. He has a very large cap hit from the 5th year option the saints reported to pick up on him. I believe they can back out of that if they chose to do so without any dead money. Cutting him would create 7,690,000 in cap space.

Get well soon guys.

The 5th year option is guaranteed for injury and becomes fully guaranteed at the start of the league year.

If its a Lisfranc injury, then its usually normal for players to fully recover from it in about 2 yrs

As others have said, I think Kiko is a goner. Davenport and Rankins should be back by the start of the season but I really think we need another quality DE because we simply can't expect Davenport to stay healthy for 16 and Hendrickson is a gamer but...largely disappeared when we needed him most. Hopefully we can get a value Free Agent signing like Okafor was for us a couple years back. I think our DT depth is solid depending on the Onyemata situation.

3 extremely talented players but none of which were able to stay healthy in 2019.

Hopefully Davenport and Rankins can put it all together this year. I don't think Kiko will be back in NO for 2020 though.

Kiko is likely done.

Davenport and Rankins have to be a concern. They are too talented to give up on, but their availability has become an issue. So if we don't sign someone and bank on them playing and they get hurt then we are likely to end up in the same position. I doubt we sign some high priced FA and bargain bin players don't always pan out.
Personally, I'd rather us draft someone to go along with a bargain FA so hopefully we strike gold with one of the two. I really like the idea of drafting and building that way. Those players will have their learning curves, but their salaries are of so much help.

Davenport was a skinny kid whose coaches in college had him put on 50 lbs in one year. That was probably OK in a small college program but in the pro's he got exposed when his weight ballooned to the 270-280 area. His body just was never meant to carry that much weight. I doubt he ever returns and if he does I hopes the saints smartly have him play at no more than 250 lbs to preserve his health. Another Payton reach and shows again the impulsiveness of Payton on draft day.

I'll bet paychecks that Davenport "returns". My paychecks are pretty nice. You game?
